Any outgoing students selling cars or scooters?

I am coming down in May, and was wondering if anyone is selling their car or scooter. If you are, PM me and we can talk.

Also if there are any students that are currently living in the dorms, whats the deal on getting a single dorm? I tried calling the island, and its like nobody knew what I was talking about. My impression was that its a first come, first serve scenario. Someone verify this for me.

OK...once you get down here then you can look for cars. Most cars cost about $5-8K USD. The drivers licenses are 125 EC and must be renued each year. You may want to consider renting a car when you get here, that way you don't have to worry about insurance and fixing it if something happens. A lot of islands seem to take advantage of medical students (even the ones that run the dorms!!)

The deal with the single dorms are if everyone has a room and then you choose to have a single it is an extra $300 USD. Be sure to have the money when you get here you're expected to pay the first day and the people in the dorms do not like and usually won't take personal checks!

Any more quesitons??

i was told to get a bank certified check, which costs $5 at my bank. NO credit cards or personal checks accepted... no plastic! in 2006!
problem is i'm there till december so not sure how i'll pay for my second semester - c'ton the dorm manager told me we will be kicked out at the end of this semester to make room for the september newbies, so next semester will be fun... studying for finals & finding a place i'm not even sure how i'll pay for...

It is true that you will have to be moved out of the dorm a max of 4 days after the finals. A lot of stundents start looking around block 4 or so. Paying for the new apt or house is tricky for a lot of students considering they rely only on loans. I honeslty can't suggest anything for you except save your money. You don't get your loan money until 30 days after school has started so you have to make ends meet with personal money before then...

Good luck to everyone and I will see ya'll when ya'll get here soon!! I live right in front of the Rowlins PAsture dorms in the red roof house on the bottom floor left door...come say HI!!

All it means is that after the end of the first semester on the island you have to find a place for yourself. You don't have to go back to the state or leave the island if you choose not to. But you just have to secure a place somewhere and then you can stay as long as you like during the whole 5 semesters of school.
