Hey ... well once again I find myself with a question:P... Thanks alot by the way savior for helping me out... it's really great having someone on here who can help me out so.. I was wondering what the age of most people entering the 6 year program is... I know most people believe that people go straight out of high school and then into med school, but I know Norwegian students generally do 2-3 years of schooling after high school before entering( I read it on aftenposten.no,which is a norwegian online newspaper)... This means that the average student entering a 6 year program in Europe is the same as one entering a 4 year in USA....

Thanks for helping out!!

Jraces; the avreage age of students starting in 6 year prgm is something around 20..atleast the year I started.
the breaks differ depending on what year you are enrolled in, but start of the semester is at 1st of Oct. until Jan where you have the semester break, the fall semester starts around Feb (you have a couple days off for christmas/1st Jan), then you have finals in Jun. If you have retakes you have to come back in Sept. for the retake examinations.
Check out the university homepage, you can download schedules and such..

handsomeroses, depends on what year you are in and which university, contact the admission secretary at MUW.

NO STAFFORD and NO PLUS loans as of now for Akad Warszawa, they did not renew their application in Washingoton....This is Important for US students planning on going or currently attending--the Warsaw did not send in their paperwork to renew for Stafford and Plus Loans to the Dept. of Education. The Foreign Schools Team said that they failed to send in the paperwork and now they lost funding. Please ask students to get on this else no Stafford nor Plus Loans are available. Right now (Dec 2007) there are no funds available. The school can be fine for making you a docotr but we need the US Dept of Ed Guaranteed Student Loans to make that happen first. Please alert and respond to this.

Hi matimd, my questions are as follows:

1. Will the medical degree ( 6 yr programme) be recognised by the GMC of the UK?
2. Could you give us the ranks of the Medical University Of Warsaw in any university ranking list for medicine if possible?
3. How many non-EU students are accepted for the 6 yr programme?
4. Are there any interviews prior to obtaing a medical seat at the uni? If not then how are the applicants given a seat at the Medical University?
5. How is the atmosphere at the medical university itself?(stressful for eg ?)
6. Who are the lecturers(where did they graduate from)? And how is the level of English during their lectures.
7. When do you start with dissection? And when do you start having contact with patients?

Thank you very much for sparing me some of your precious time answering my questions.

Hemant.

Some things never change. My son attended the Medical Academy a decade ago and, yes you guessed it, the school didn't get their paperwork in on time and he wasn't able to continue with his student loans. What a hastle the school gave the students. The SOLUTION was to transfer to Jagiellonian in Krakow where he graduated and now is a successful doctor here in the States. The BONUS was the city of Krakow - my all time favorite (old) city in the world. All you students have plenty to worry about with your studies and the last thing you need is to worry about the school administration getting their paperwork in. They obviously haven't the desire or motivation to look out for their students. Good luck!
