i guess it depends on ur personality
im moving out with my set of friends... as a general recommendation may i suggest move in for 2-3 months until u get used to warsaw, the people.. the school.... its a big city and with classes in every direction can be very daunting. at least that way u will have sum1 to be nervous with and no doubt he/she will be equally nervous... about new places new ppl etc after u become accustomed well its so much easier... before i was so nervous... there was so many things to remember about buses trains and locations... now i feel comfortable... warsaw is like home...but of course theres more to discover mmmm well maybe u cud do as i suggest and when u feel safer step out.. by that time u shud have sum friends and maybe u all cud move out together. its is always easier being with ppl familiar to u in a place so fare from home regards |

1 thing i failed to mention but thought id bring it up now
mmmm we are in the intermediary steps of starting up a surgery society and a cardiology society there is restricted space so i guess the best of the best and the most sincere can only join. its a venture for 2nd/3rd/4th year students requires significant knowledge of anatomy(for surgery) and a strong background in physiology and cardiology )for cardiology) |

hey thanks for your input, im considering going to poland. What school do you feel is better, Jagiellonian or warsaw (without any bias :P). Also, is it possible to do clinicals in the US or is it entirely in poland? Also, do they help you with dealing with USMLE's?
im kinda in panic mode cuz im in a dilemma. I have narrowed it down to 2 schools in caribbean adn 2 in Poland. My heart says go to Poland but my mind says go to caribbean cuz residency is easier to acquire. I really want to go poland but I feel it is a risk as i don't know much about their clinical program. Any ideas? What are your impressions so far about the program, is it to your satisfaction? do the teachers speak good english cuz i heard that it is a problem in some schools. |

mmm well they are both good schools, each has its pros and cons
i cant really comment on krakow. i did get accepted there... but decided to stay here in warsaw due to ease of commuting and international recognition mmmm clinicals... some u can do back home.. for warsaw it depends on how well u are doing and discretion of the dean for example. if ur flunkin left right and centre and u cant cope with workload theres no chance u are goin to get permission to go back and do ur training i dnt knw about krakow sum of the website info is misleading so.. id rather not comment ... u cud ring the school??? as for usmle.. well... ill be taking it this summer(all going well) mmm thats step1 and after end of degree step 2 and 3 UK u dont need to do exam - as yet but dnt let that fool u Uk v tough place to practice and well if ur slightly off th best margin ull b left at bottom of pile mmmm as for carribean may i ask where uve applied.?? a few of my friends got messed over by sum schools...sooo wanna make sure same dnt happen ok me is going. nite nite(tired) Quote:

for the caribbean, im planning on applying to Saba and MUA (medical university of the americas - Nevis)
i think Poland would be better in terms of actually enjoying the education but I do feel like going to the caribbean would be the "safer" route. Im so confused, i don't want to be trapped on an island but i feel poland is still risky.. |

i applied at saba - got accepted
1 of my ex-collegues is there they have no curves 75% pass rate and if u fail mre then 2 exam per year ur out?? but its a good school - v military style MUA - avoid it like the plague risky business applyin there ive heard rumours of problems with recognition by ECFMG and also GMC sooo please check up on that b4 u decide to go mmm as or POland- are u dark skinned or caucasian? im not being racist just wonderin why u feel apprehensive of the security here? so far as yet ive had no problems.... u get used to ppl staring trick is to smile and say hello back in polish usually they say hello back or.... they stop starin anyhow any other questions.please ask Quote:

lol i guess the word safety meant two different thing but both apply. Iam of east indian origin but have lived in canada my whole life. Only a little apprehensive about the racism stuff but i mean safer as in getting into residency b/c of the extensive US clinicals but i guess that all depends on your USMLE's. So in your opinion, what would be better, saba or a polish school. FOr polish, what would be ur recommendation, im thinking about poznan, warsaw, and jagiellonian.

oops
sorry after my russian experience i try to make ppl aware of everything.... wasnt the nicest thing that happened to me... but i guess thats life well i applied to al the mentioned below including Lodz. i came to Warsaw and i made a good decision...so far its been great now sum ppl tell me at karkow(JAGALONIAN) AND POZNAN u can do clinicals abroad. and alot of students fall for that. thinking that they can do majority of clinicals in Uk/USa etc... thats isnt the case. i think rotations are limited. as for residency - to be honest i dont think it really matters regardless of which institute u finally go for.... remember u will be a FOREIGN GRADUATE - irrespective of anything ull hav the same procedure , the same administration to go thru mmm each university has its pros and cons it just depends on what u want and dnt listen to what every1 has to say ring the schools - ask to speak to the deans. if u cant arrange an appointment to speak to him on phone... its ur decision... i will not bias u towards warsaw. even though im loving it here, it all depends what things are imp to u i will b doing the USMLE.. as i plan to move to the USA... sooooo well...good luck i guess i dnt knw wat the ratios of students are in the other schools. here we are majority american, taiwanese, canadian, british and then other countries. in my group there are 5 americans, myself British, canadians and taiwanese. small group. more hands on. more exposure good luck with everythng.... warsaw med 1st year!
hey everyone.. well thought i'd let you all know that im actually in the 1st year here at warsaw. It going pretty good but its pretty tough! the schedule is crazy. in the 1st semester you will have the following classes (some of these continue onto the next semester*):
Anatomy* Histo* Biochem* Physio* Behavioural Science* biophysics Med parasitology Medical ethics Latin* polish* The schedule is tough and its hard to find time to even study on weekdays and sometimes it feels like you have no life! BUT im still enjoyin myself! im doing what i wanted 2 do.. and iv made loads of great friends. I'm at the dorms.. which can be loud at times (alot of 6yr students with plenty of time. hehe- no offence guys), but im glad im here iv met loads of ppl and i'v got to know warsaw. Warsaw is actually a really nice place, i chose to come here knowing it was the capital and hopefuly it would be ahead in terms of the way people live here and it is! Poland is slowly but surely catching up! now a few words about the university(prob more relavant): pros
