Thread: HMI/FAFSA Help

Hey guys,

I have been interested in applying to HMI but when I heard that they lost their financial aid I was hesitant b/c I wouldn't be able to afford taking out the private loans. Now that the fed loans are back, does anybody know whether money is available for new students entering the school or just the students already in the program? I'm kind of hearing both.

Anybody entering fall '12 have any additional advice/news?

I just finished my interview for financial aid. Just wondering, do we only get the estimate amount of aid for Direct loan? Do they give estimate for Grad Plus Loans as well?

The best resource is Dina Crum(HMI's sole person in charge of loans). However, she has never replied to any of my email or voicemail(I've sent her 6 emails and 2 voicemails).

Your second best resource is your HMI student representative. My assigned representative is Ashley, but I prefer talking with Rachel. I talked to her(Rachel) earlier today(~1:30pm pst) about Dina and federal loans. She told me that because Dina's caseload is so large, she's focusing on helping those already in the program first BUT that an email will be sent out next week to incoming students to let them know about federal loans and what not.

In addition to Rachel, I find Arun and Dir. Womack(if you can reach him by phone) very helpful.

All of us entering Fall '12 are in the same boat til that email comes and/or Dina starts answering incoming students' emails and voicemails.

I wasn't stating they were the only ones with access to them, more like they had first dibs because they are already there and obviously need the money to finish. I've tried to contact some people in financial aid but didn't hear anything back. Did you ever get the email that has been mentioned by a few of the posters regarding the financial aid situation?

perhaps you should remove your head from your anus and READ THE INFORMATION in the other previous thread where i broke this issue down to its elements and explained (2x over) that loans are back

dont try to be a smartass, its not going to get you very far in life - especially if someone is trying to voluntarily help you

Also, success in life is subjective, but I guess I'll just assume you are omnipotent & know exactly where I want to go and how far my smartass-ness will take me lol
