Any new students for Lubin Fall '12 looking for a roommate??

    Hey guys!

First off, congrats on the acceptance to those who will be attending Lublin this fall! I am going to be a second year for the 6-year program and from what I've gathered from these discussions it makes more sense to get an apartment vs staying in the dorms.. both location and cost wise so I am currently looking for a female roommate. I have reached out to the leasing agent and rent runs approx. between 850-950 PLN/month for 2 people, utilities will run on avg about 100 PLN.

If anyone is interested please let me know

Hey Ania, I got your pm let me know if you got mine. It'd be a lot easier to chat via fb or email for me and finding you on fb seems to be a tad harder than expected haha

No, I haven't bought the books yet. I am concerned now with the immigration paper work.... What have you guys done about that? I live in Miami, so it seems that I have to go to the consulate here, but they only open from 1-3pm...****...do you know how to go about this?

hey... i am from fort lauderdale. the honorary consulate will not do anything for you unless you are a polish citizen. i have asked, and even with my father's polish history they only will deal with situations relating to their citizens.

that being said you mail your visa letter from the dean and the application to Washington D.C. and get your passport back within the week

Forgive me, but I think there's a lot more paperwork you need to provide for the visa than just the letter and application(just Google the LA,Chicago or New York consulate and check out their visa requirements). Also note that if you don't have "sufficient" funds from your bank statements to ensure multiple entries into Poland, you should write an additional letter to the consulate requesting multiple entries(it should state how you're going to study in Poland but would like to come back to the US for holidays/family visits and then return to study in Poland).

The above info was based off my experience when I physically applied for a visa in LA last week(7/18/2012). Visa application fees for US citizens were $0, but there was $16 in fedex fees to send back my visa and passport. Visas take 10-15 business days to process and arrive.

Contact the Washington DC office to ensure 1. it's possible to send visa applications there and 2. paperwork requirements.

    Hope that helps and cheers!

and if you want to pay that amount you might as well live in TBV

because its 900 a month, with gym access, grocery store and all that jazz

plus its safe, has good security and there is always someone working at the front desk in case your toilet overflows, or you burn your kitchen down or whatever

anyways, you guys can refer to my thread (which i figured should be pretty visible) in this forum if you have any other questions

im currently a 2nd year out of the 4 year program in the US program, and jsut went through exactly what you guys are going through about 9 months ago and im happy to help

its calle TBV, its on Chodzki street

the buildings are alpha, delta, omega, and one other one - probably gamma or beta i would guess lol

all things considered its decent for what it is, where it is

but no living room, no separate bathrooms is somethin to keep in mind

i personally feel like the security along with metered utilities and a fixed rent on contract outweighs this issue because local landlords can *sometimes* gouge on rent because you are a foreign student.

just something to kep in mind

PachassPaisaa, I appreciate that you're taking the time to try to make a clear point, but typing in big red letters is like screaming in real life. You can get your point across with regular font and text.

i'm sorry if you interpret it that way, as it was not my intention!

just trying to make something very clear as it is something that has confused students (including myself) for quite some time before coming to Poland, and often is a big issue of contention among students that are used to living on their own, who think they're gonna get stuck in a dorm.

its in big red letters to clarify something important - not to yell at anyone - i'll change it to a more friendly color.

if that was the case, i would have typed in caps lock - as is common when someone is trying to 'screaming' whilst typing.

    anyways...
