Question Financial Aid for Spring 2011

Do any of the US students have any information to share regarding the Stafford loan/Direct loan situation for the Spring 2011 school year at MUL?

Lublin no longer qualifies for title IV U.S federal loans, i was told that last year by the school. What you need to do is call them up directly and ask them about their financial aid loan for U.S students. I was lucky to have called a few of these schools and was quickly able to eliminate those that lost their loan qualification. if you have other questions, let me know. good luck

Lublin has federal loan and on top of that has Grad plus loan, just call the financial aid office to confirm, i received mine already for 2010/2011.

Lublin is still qualified for title IV Loans (Direct and GradPlus)

    ujup79 is completely incorrect.

The Loans for 2010/2011 have already been given out to quite a few students. My Loans (both gradPlus and Direct) have been approved and sent to the Lublin by the government, and are being wire transferred as I type this.

These facts were confirmed by studentloans.gov emails and the fact that I will now owe 30,000 more for this next semester (17K in gradPlus, and 11K in Direct Loans)

Please don't provide false data. This forum has so few actual student posts that a few falsehoods really discredit the forum.

    Cost of Attendance

I am in my third year doing rotations in nyc. Tuition for years 3 and 4 is a little higher than the semesters in Poland. Right now per semester it tuition costs about $19,000.

The Direct Stafford Loans will give $4229 in subsidized loans and $5970 in unsubsidized loans per semester.
The GradPlus Loans will give $17,630 in low interest loans (4.0% fixed) per semester.

After tuition, I will have about $9,000 to pay rent, eat, buy books, and plan airfare for 6 months. That comes out to a total budget of $1500 a month.

If you get the GradPlus Loans-- managing finances is incredibly easy.

Without them you have to come up with about $9,000 per semester in years 3 and 4 in addition to cost of rent, food, etc..

Cost of Attendance for years 1 and 2 in poland is $11000. Direct Loans will cover $10200, so you would have to come up with $800 for the rest of the tuition per semester, in addition to rent, food, etc..

All in all, year 1 and 2 are completely manageable without gradPlus Loans, but they sure do help alot. During my years 1 and 2 in poland, I lived very well on a budget of about $600-$700 a month for rent, food, etc.

Years 3 and 4 without gradPlus would be very difficult. There are credit score based loans out there that we can access though. (most of the carribean schools, except for sgu, ross, and auc, do not have access to federal loans--- those guys finance their education via credit score based loans.)

    more info

For years 1 and 2 with the stafford and graduate plus loans, is it easy to manage everything well?

for years 1 and 2 it is extremely easy to manage you finances with both stafford and gradplus.

As I wrote before, you will recieve about $10,000 in stafford loans and about $17,000 in GradPlus.

The cost of tuition is $11,000, that leaves $16,000 for living spending money per semester. In all honesty all you really need to live like a king is like $6,000 per semester for rent, food, and books. That leaves about $10,000 that you can use to pay HMI fees, or save for the future, incase loans become more difficult or whatever--- its up to you.

That is pretty much the breakdown for years 1 and 2.

I think you received this news then and you failed to update your information , I spoke to the guy in charge of foreign school in the department of education and he gave me the MUL status concerning the loan situation;as of then no action was taken and the MUL was still qualified for Title IV;The school was able to work things out with the DOE and we kept our qualification. That's the most updated news my friend.

Ujup79 probably was on the wrong forum. I think what he meant was Lodz instead of Lublin. Please check his other post.
