Thread: Laptop, where should i go?

Hi!

Im a first year student; and was wondering which store i should go to, if i want to buy a laptop? I need a relatively cheap one, have a new one at my apartment, but the soundcards broken and its far to expensive to replace here in poland...

So right now, i need something temporary.
Any suggestions on where to get a hold of a cheap laptop? May it be secondhand or not? I mostly need it for music and video.

Don't buy one online... electronic imports carry heavy tax thingies before they'll let you pick it up
Usually, electronics are what you really want to bring in from home, not buy here. What happened to your sound card, and how tech savvy are you?
I could ask my friend (local) where they sell cheap laptops, but are you looking for netbook type thing or more of a full-fledged desktop replacement... and are you sure it's your soundcard that's broken (goes back to the tech savvy q, i guess... i know a guy who changed 3 cards on his desktop before he realized he'd plugged his speakers into the mic output, for instance) or perhaps it's something software related vs hardware? I'll ask my friend about where you might get it fixed, too (or get the part, again going back to the tech savvy q). Let me know.

Hi! Thanks for taking out time, to help me out. Preferably a laptop, don't really need it for other then writing notes, listening to music and perhaps watching a movie now and then. I've spent a lot of time downloading drivers and software for the soundcard, by now im quite sure thats its broken or fried; I could get it replaced, but was told by a tech-wizard that it would be quite expensive, and it might be better to just buy a new laptop; need something thats relatively cheap but not entirely from the stone-age

Go this cell phone shop next to Mcdonalds not the one to the left of the entrance but to the right just keep walking it will on left hand side, its a cell phone shop that repairs electronics.

Hey, the friend said to check out vobis and komputornik and compare them to mediamarkt before making your choice. the stores are located in Olimp and Plaza respectively (and mediamarkt next to leclerek); not sure how good their sites are (I know mediamarkt's doesn't show prices for some reason) so you'll probably have to make a trip out of it.

never go ot mediamarkt. they sell pooh pooh computers (sometimes used of repaired ones as new!!!!!)

komputronik is good, also try little shops in the centre ( eg. on narutowicza street)
