    Tuition Cost and Acceptance Rates

    Advertisements

    Hey guys,

I am considering applying to MULublin through HMI, and I was wondering if someone can give me an accurate look at the tuition cost. I was trying to find it on HMI's website, but wasn't too successful in that matter.

From what I've read on this forum, I understand that we have to pay a $10,000 agent fee, but after that, what is the cost of attending Lublin for those 2 years and then doing your clinicals in America? I know HMI's website said that clinical rotations will cost me $849 per week...how many weeks of clinicals do we have to do??? I am also reading that HMI just tacks on random costs "where its necessary" but unfortunately we cant apply to MULublin around HMI, so we just have to suck it up and pay... As helpful as HMI may be, it sounds realllllyyyy sucky to not solidly know what we'll be paying.

Also, how aggressive are they in terms of accepting applicants into the 4 year program? I was not a pre-med major in college, but have subsequently finished all of my premedical requirements and am now looking to apply with HMI for MULublin. I am trying to gauge what HMi wants from a student- as Ive done a lot of research and volunteering- but have not taken MCATS :-(

Any feedback on these topics would be appreciated,
    Thank You All,
    BmeR

Check my post history in my profile... I've written my payment cost outline a couple times.
As for the admittance, it really depends. I have a friend who finished two majors in canada (one of which was bio) and they still tried (unsuccessfully) to shove her into the 5yr (you take classes with 4 and 6yr students... aka, give them more $), while I heard several of our fellow 4yrs only have an AA to their names and still got into the 4yr. If you've done all your pre-med req's you should be fine.

I always urge students who are considering studying in Eastern Europe NOT to go through an agency (HMI, or any other). If the school requires it, find another school. It is a waste of money to give 5-figures to anyone in this process. You could easily fly to several of the schools on your own, apply to all of them in person, check out the schools and the cities in person, and fly home, and STILL spend less than that amount of money that you'd be wasting on an agency. Seriously, apply on your own. There are students who will help you with the required information on VMD for nothing. I have helped a few people apply to my school, and someone helped me out when I was applying. There is no need to go through any third party. I won't even go into the terrible experiences of my classmates who used an agency, because it is second hand information... but I will say that I'm really glad that I didn't go that route.

@Elssha- Thank you!- I'll definitely look at your older posts

@Moldovanits- lol thanks for that insight...now i just have to scrape together an easy 100thousand...maybe I'll start hustling.

@Devildoc8404- I definitely agree with your view on agencies...however, I believe that the only way I can do US clinicals is by going through HMI at Lublin or Silesia, right? It really sucks because I am not a fan of the HMI agents....they try hard, almost too hard to get me to want to come to their program....Im definitely not slamming the schools that HMI represents...but the agency itself seems quite unreliable.

Thank You Guys- and if any of you are aware of other Eastern European or International schools, (besides the Caribbean Schools) that offer US clinicals after 2 years of basic sciences in the given country, please let me know- because I'm sure you guys know more than what my research allows me to find.

By the way, would you be inclined to comment about Bulgarian school(s), like the quality of instructors, etc.? Thanks in advance.

10k is a lot to pay an agent, but if u look at the tuition rates of some Caribbean schools like Ross or SGU, this is chump change. there are only 4 semesters here in compared to 5/6 in the Caribbean. the cost of living is less here then in the islands.

I would really like to know that too.
I'm looking for a decent school (in Poland, somewhere affordable) that offers GUARANTEED rotations in the US continuously back-to-back.
