When you guys go make sure you tell the University when the flight is. They can arrange transportation for you if you're bringing a lot of bags/stuff. It's a lot cheaper than a taxi but obviously more than the train. Otherwise the Polski Express bus is great and a great fare for students.
I graduated from Lublin in 2002 (loved it) and that's the way we used to do it. Plus staying in the dorm is great especially for the first 2 years. You get to meet everyone and get study partners. After that for the clinicals you can get an apt (I did) or just stay in the dorms. I recommend staying near the hospital (around chodzki) cuz it's just a quick walk across the street.
As far as bringing stuff... well you can get a lot of things there now. I went back in 2007 to visit. Unless there's a must must have item(s) then bring it. Otherwise get it from there. Tips: bring comforters for the beds trust me, i brought a pillow too, good winter/rain clothes/shoes, a plug converter (not a voltage converter cuz that can fry the electronics that automatically change). Remember it's Europe.. enjoy it.
Anyway everyone probably knows all of the above stuff but I figured I'd mention it again. No more spoon feeding. Anyway good luck and keep your mind open. Take everything for what it is...get the most out it. Oh and get ready for some boxed milk.
510 points hey, i got accepted to lublin for fall 2010. it will be helpful to know that who many students are going to lublin this fall.
510 points Hi,
I got accepted for this coming semester as well. I read that typically 30 or so students come from the US. A student I spoke to who just finished her 2 years said she was in the American class of 20 students.

510 points Hey all,
I'm having a hard time finding an answer to a question I have about the Lublin school. Actually, the question extends to all Polish universities.
I'm looking for a program where the last 2 years of clinical rotations can be GUARANTEED to be in the US, rather than in the locality of the university.
I would not like to go through HMI if possible.
Please let me know where you guys (and girls?) are planning on doing your rotations.
Thank you!!
510 points Wow you didn't read any old posts right? All the answers are there clinical rotations can be done in the states only with Lublin! There's absolutely no way around HMi seriously I heard this question like 50 times people hmi runs this program for Americans you pay they give you the dream, i know you don't like it and it seems worthless but they do get you into us rotations. otherwise there's no way around it unless you go into the 6 year euro program or the Taiwanese program. Gdluck
510 points Thanks a lot for the reply, Moldovanits.
I figured that was the case after reading a few dozen threads on the topic - I wanted some form of confirmation/closure.
From what I read, it seems that all the US rotations are in various places, such as NY, Illinois, other affiliated hospitals. I wonder if it's possible to arrange for them all to be in one place rather than in a number of cities with HMI. I think its best if I call HMI and ask them myself. Sorry to bother.
Good luck to everyone who's going to Lublin this year.
