Thread: LODZ MD PROGRAM

hi,

can anyone tell me about the md program at lodz? i believe they have only offered their program in english for a few years, so is it reputable? does anyone have any misgivings about their program? how many states is it recognized by? is it true that the clinicals can be done in america?

i know someone going in the fall & they say it legit. also, call the state med boards where you might want to practice to see if they are recognized. that's really all you have to do. finally, take everything you read on these forums w/a grain of salt b/c alot of people talk speek opinion as fact. do your due diligence & be decisve!

The above ought also be taken with a grain of salt.

I think that due diligence should go way beyond simply calling the state board. Consider the number of graduates from the program and the residency positions attained. In addition, look into the attrition rate. Visit the school and talk to actual students in an unsupervised environment to figure out whether it is worth it.

My name is mithun, i am a higschool senior in chicago, IL. Ive been looking into alot of information about 5 or 6 year programs out of highschool, and i saw that some people were talking about Lodz Medical School.

If you can give me any information, or put me in touch with someone who is doing a 6 year program out of highschool, ill greatly appreciate it. Any info would be great!

To apply at Lodz, do you have to apply through an agent??? If so, would you gimme their contact info?

lodz is ranked #2 in poland (warsaw is #1). the md program is very strong and you're license will be recognized by all eu contries if you decide to practice in the eu. i can give you the admissions contact when your ready.

umm...i am pretty sure that the 4 year program will not let you practice in EU. be careful! and, not too many people from the US going to poland are hoping to be able to work in austria or portugal. what is more important is universal stateside approval, which none of the polish programs have.

I just got accepted into the four year medical program at Lodz. I applied directly to the school, and they have accepted me. I did not apply through any agent.

My question is whether Lodz is a reputable school that gives you a good education? I have heard that they offer clinicals third and fourth year in U.S. hospitals can anybody tell me if this is true? Are there any students currently that are in the Lodz four year program that can possibly give me some more info about this school?

I would really appreciate any info that anybody can give me because I do not want to go to a school where I can potentially waste four years of my life.

Lodz is not as sound as people may think, i managed to find a contact address of a lady who spent 2 or 3 years at Lodz, she didn't like it, and she said that the school was a shambles when it came to USMLE prep, so did a few others in her class, so she had to move to the carrib. Also her financial aid was a problem, she simply wasn't getting money when she needed it.

Im sure i have posted this before, anyway there is another thread on here where a guy was also in contact with the same female, he also posted her thought if i recall correctly.

Also, i contacted AIM last year, they seem to be very efficient, and polite, however i would imagine they will take a good few thousand $$ off you for filling in an application, and submitting it directly to the school.

If i am correct, i think that AIM hold your financial aid money, and give it to you when you need it, this has also been reported as a problem...... people having to wait longer than usual for money, which AIM don't want to release.
