Smile Canadian students at Medical University of Lodz

Hi!
I've been accepted to MUL for the 4 year program and will be starting in the Fall of 2007. Are there any Canadian students out there who can give me some insight as to what to expect at Lodz and any other information you think will be useful? I'd greatly appreciate your help.

Also, I've read many postings regarding negative experiences with AIM. Can someone shed more light on this issue....as to what exactly should new students beware of??

Thanks very much!

I don't know about the Canadian part. But as to AIM, I have to give them one thing: the questions that I've had for them, they (that is, Dr. ********) has responded to them rather quickly.

According to Dr. ********, they've have only about 40 students from North America go to Poland. Out of those, only three have taken (and they all passed) Step 1 of USMLE. There are no students who have graduated yet.
AIM/MUL are connected to hospitals in Conneticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Louisiana--she gave me a short list.
I've found her to be very helpful, so far.
I'll let you know more when I find out.

Michael

Smile Aim

Hey Michael,

Thanks for your input! I've also had very pleasant experiences with AIM so far. I've received prompt replies to all my emails and they've been very helpful!

Are you heading to Poland in the Fall as well??

i also have no complaints with AIM Dr.******* has been great....any question i have had they quickly prompt me with a reply and usualy something to back it up (for example they informed me on how to prove their accredition with WHO). they know that some people are timid with foreign schools and they try their hardest to inform you of their accreditions, just ask call or email. my interview process was smooth first with Aim (two doctors, the director of clinicals in America and the director of engish program in Lodz) whom are in America, then with the dean of the medical school in Lodz (who is on three way with another doctor from Lodz medical school) but the dean des most of the talking (although with help from the other doctor cause he has hard accent wih some things). so..so far thru my admission process they have been very professional. i hope that helps in regards to my experience with aim.

i will be starting the 4 year program this September

Awesome! My interview was also conducted very professionally with the same people as you mentioned. They were very friendly and understanding. Do you plan on returning to Canada for clinicals or residency??

I don't know if I'll be going or not. I really just started the app process. If I do, it'll be in the 6 year program because I haven't had all the pre-reqs for the 4 year (I majored in psychology). I'm 35, though, and I've lived long enough and learned that I can get through most anything.
Maybe I'll see you both there!
Cheers!

M

Yes, I think I will go to Lodz. Are you planning on living in the student dorms??

Did you apply to Med School in the States as well???

no i did not apply to any other schools besides the ones in Poland....always wanted to study abroad and move out of country.....got lots of family in eastern europe too so was hoping on being a little closer to them.

Yes, it is nice to be closer to family. I'm in the 4 year program as well! I think that studying at such a school abroad will open up a lot of options about where you want to eventually settle. I think that's the greatest advantage of going to Poland.

Will the first graduating class of North American students from MUL be graduating this year since this program began in 2002??
