I feel like Dr.M would be our best bet.

cool........that is awesome i guess we will be classmates ^__^ you will be in the 4 year program right?

no i did not apply to any other schools besides the ones in Poland....always wanted to study abroad and move out of country.....got lots of family in eastern europe too so was hoping on being a little closer to them.
Hey since you have a family in eastern EU you must know what kind of weather I can expect in poland. How would i be able to keep in touch with my family back in north america. And if there is anything else you can think of to tell me which i haven't thought of would be much appreciated

lol haha....actually i thought about the best way to stay incontact with my friends and sister here in the states (and just as my friends for out of the country do) best bet would be the wonderfull wide world web. they have instant messaging sites such as, Googletalk, MSN, skype and Aim which also have voice conference...soooo.....you talk to each other through the internet....if you also want to see eachother you can buy a webcam...i have and it and it works great, best part about it is......it is free. they also have on skyp (and i am sure other companies) were you can purchase an international or US phone number for about 12$ every 3 months and your family can call your computer from their phone. you could get a phone also if you want there...it is NOT like a third world country or anything.......it is civilized so no need for pigeons! but it is just really expensive. it cost us about 50cents a minute just to call Bulgaria (which is where my family is).

Hi,
I am a Canadian planning on going to Lodz this Sept. along with 3 friends from Nova Scotia. We are hoping to get an appartment rather than living in residence (we want to bring our cats). Is there anyone who could tell me of good websites or ways to find an appartment before having to go to Poland? We are really hoping on having a place rented before we get on the plane, for obvious reasons
An to those Canadians going to Lodz, has anyone found out about what we need to do to be able to practice in Canada after all is said and done? I've been asking around on these forums, but no one seems to be able to give any reliable information (maybe I haven't looked into it enough). Anyways, any links and advice someone can send me would be great! Maybe I'll be seeing you guys there in the fall!!

Corinna,

You should be aware that Canada puts a number of barriers on its IMGs. For instance, your home province of Nova Scotia demands a return of service (e.g. a commitment from you to practice in Nova Scotia for a given time) in order to be considered for a residency position there. Take a look at this for provincial eligibility for IMGs:

CaRMS - (R-1) - Eligibility - Provincial Restrictions

Many Canadian IMGs end up in the US, because they cannot get a residency position in their specialty in Canada. As a result, unless you are exclusively interested in family practice in less populated regions of Canada, you should be thinking about getting a US residency from the get-go.

Good luck to you.
