Hello. I am wondering how ur experience has been soo far. I am thinking about applying to the 6 year program as well. By completing pre-med courses at lodz, is it more difficult to get licensed in certain states in the US?
Thank You!
510 points i will be starting the 4 year medical program this year in october there. i have family from Eastern Europe so they will help me get settled over there but would you have any idea how hard it is to find an apartment? average cost? i am bringing my dog, so do they have houses for rent there? how is the language barrier? do alot of poeple speak english?

510 points are there a lotta of indians in the program. Have you experienced any racism there so far?
510 points Hi there,
My experience here has been a very good one overall, including the program itself, the city and the people. There are a handful of indians here and there hasnt been any complaints of racism so far as to my knowledge.
By completing your pre-med/ med here i do not believe it is more difficult to get into rotations in the US. The only thing here is that they do not prepare you for USMLE's you have to study for those on your own, and how well you do determines your rotations in the US.
As for apartments, i do not have an exact cost but your probably looking at $400-500US a month. The dorms are pretty good but your pets are not allowed. The language barrier is not that bad, most of the polish students that go to school here can speak english. Elderly people cannot, but in both the 6 year and 4 year program you are required to take Polish as a course which helps, because you learn the basics to get you around the city.
Hope that helps,
Mannu

thanksthat does help, i am even more excited about going there. i know some friends that are going to schools in the caribbean and they also say they do not prepare you for the USMLE, i don't THINK many schools do not prepare you for it (but could be wrong), in my opinion it is all self learned anyways. The school i go to now has a medical school and i have a roommate that is in the O.D. program and she says too that everything is self learned it will not be handed to you, the proffesors basically quide you thru.
another question........do you know when the summer break startes there, around when? i have to come back to America to take one more class here and forgot to even ask if the breaks are the same as America, since they don't start at the same time (for me will be October 1st). if you know this info it is greatly appreciated![]()
what is the age range over there i hear there is an older crowd? (not that it would matter on my education, but just curious). i also heard that since we would be international students we could get discounts on flights to visit home, is this right?![]()
thanks a bunch ^__^
510 points Summer break here usually start July 1, maybe even late June depending on when finish your finals and then school starts again first week of Ocotber.
People here are actually fairly young, the city is full of universities and many young students are studying here presently.
Student discounts are available on select flights, LOT which is a Polish airline is one carrier that gives discounts and if im not mistaken i think Air canada might aswell, but im not too sure.
Best regards,
Mannu
510 points Thanks for your help so far. Do you know if Lodz is a California approved school, thus allowing graduates to sit for licensure? I live in California and know that they are very selective as to which foreign medical schools they accept. Also, what do you anticipate your total cost to be for school at Lodz? Did you have any college or pre-med courses prior to admission into the 6 year program.
Thanks Again!!
