510 points As of today, none of the Polish English programs have California approval (they need to be listed separately, see listings for Czech and Hungarian schools). Two other Polish schools with English programs have New York approval, but Lodz does not (see the list under Form 2CC on the link). In addition, no Polish school is listed on the Texas substantial equivalence list, so they are not approved (though licensure is possible, but more difficult this way.) I doubt that they are approved for clinicals in Florida, but I don't have a link for you.Originally Posted by Dr.Azimi

Given that none of the polish schools (english programme) is fully recognised in all 50 states- why do most NA students choose Poland ahead of schools in Hungary and Prague???

510 points Interesting. Here are a few possible reasons/queries-Originally Posted by Mr Cool
- 4-year courses available.
- Are the annual tuition fees less? Is the cost of living generally less in Poland?
- Are the North American agents for the Polish schools better at marketing their product?
- Some people may be put off by having to do entrance exams for CZ.
- Larger number of ethnic Poles in N.A. than Magyars or Czechs?
I also wonder if the 4-year Polish courses, albeit not as finely tuned to USMLE as the best of the Carib. schools, are closer than CZ and HU to providing what most N.A. students want (for example, I think I read something here about USMLE learning materials such as shelf exams being made available)?

510 points All of the above, probably play a role. I'm not certain about the tuition fees and the cost of living is probably the same in each of the respective capitals. The four year option, in my view, may be the most attractive bit.Originally Posted by diogenes
Should one of the Polish schools offering a four year programs achieve both CA and NY approval along with greenbook clinical rotations in the US, that would, I think, make it a very competitive choice vis-a-vis the best of the Caribbean schools (to be fair, HMI has two of these three criteria at Katowice and Lublin).
