I looked into Gdansk. They seem to have pretty much the same program as all the other Polish schools. And the proposition of occasionally taking the ferry to Copenhagen or Stockholm seemed pretty nice, too. But I'm 35. And they have it on their website that applicants will be 27 or under, preferably. Kind of turned me off to it.
That's also one of the reasons I quit even considering going to Semmelweis.

I don't know (that is, I haven't talked to) anyone who goes there. But I suspect that its not terribly different from any other Polish medical school.

If you like Gdansk, look into Lodz (pronounced "Wootch" in case you don't know).

Cheers!

Michael

I'm a first year student on the 6 year MD program at Gdansk. So far it has been pretty much as I expected, and I am happy with the standard of education and the quality of the university.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about Gdansk.

Dear cron0s,

What is the drop out rate, specifically in Gdansk? I am very skeptical about my chances to pass through (though I was admitted).
Please tell me what is the killer subject in the Gdansk 6-yr program in the first 2 years. What type of students are those who fail? How many hrs per day or week it takes to study to pass in Gdansk? Do the weed out students easily?

please don't ask the same question over and over again in multiple threads. it junks up the forum.

Success in med. school comes from personal devotion;as a result, drop out rates have nothing to do with the school's reputation. Work hard and make it to class, then tell everyone what an experience it was to work hard.

That's pretty much it: 'Work hard, then tell everyone else what a great experience it was to work hard." The stunned looks some of us had as we gazed at the results of our first European-style exams last fall, have pretty much been replaced by grim smiles, but they're smiles. It can be done!... and the school is great for giving us that chance. For me, that's MUL. (Forget Gdansk, forget PUMS, forget even the Jag.... MUL is the one!)
Well, exams are over, time to go home, but... can hardly wait to come back to start Year II with brand new fervor! Oh, wait... it's the year when eyes cross from the path/pharm/path/pharm drill. Ooo boy.
