Greenbook Cores for MUA-Nevis

I hope this useful. If the definition of greenbook rotation is strictly a hospital with a residency in that same core rotation, then here a list of greenbook hospitals for MUA. I am not sure if the information is 100% accurate. I tried my best.

Cherry Hospital, Goldsboro, NC
Greenbook for: Psych.
Mua Rotation: Psych
Result: Yes, it is greenbook for Psych.

Moses Cone Hlth. Center, Greensboro, NC
Greenbook for: Family Practice, Internal Medicine
Mua Rotation: Psych, OB/GYN
Result: No, it is not greenbook for Psych, OB/GYN

Peninsula Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY
No residency

Lincoln Med Center, Bronx, NY
Greenbook for: Gen. Surg, Peds, OB/GYN, IM
Mua Rotation: Surgery, IM, Peds
Result: Yes for Surgery, IM, and Peds

Jackson Park Hospital, Chicago, IL
Greenbook for: FP
Mua Rotation: All cores (electives)
Result: Yes for Family Practice

Hinsdale Hospital, Hinsdale, IL
Greenbook for: FP
Mua Rotation: Surgery
Result: No, not for surgery

Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, IL
Greenbook for: OB/GYN, IM
Mua Rotation: OB/GYN, IM
Result: Yes for both.

Provena Hospital, Elgin, IL
Greenbook for: FP

Chabert Med. Ctr. Houma, LA

Jefferson City Hospital, Jefferson City, TN
No residency

St. Anthony Hospital, Chicago, IL
Greenbook for: Peds
Mua rotation: IM, OB/GYN, Peds
Result: Yes for Peds

St. Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK
Greenbook for: FP
Mua rotation: Psych, IM, OB/GYN, Surgery
Result: No

Harbor Hospital, Baltimore, MD
Greenbook for: IM
Mua rotation: IM
Result: Yes for IM

North Co. Med. Ctr., Greeley, CO
Greenbook for: FP
Mua Rotation: All
Result: Yes for FP

St. Vincent’s Hospital, Bridgeport, CT
Greenbook for: IM
Mua rotation: IM
Result: Yes

Griffin Hospital, Waterbury, CT
Greenbook for: IM
Mua rotation: IM
Result: Yes

Trident Hospital, Charleston, SC
No residency

Summary (Greenbook) Core Rotations:

Surgery: Lincoln(Bronx, NY), Chabert (Houma, LA),
Internal Medicine: St. Vincent’s (CT), Griffin (CT), Harbor (MD), Charbert (LA) Michael Reese (IL), Lincoln (NY)
Pediatrics: St. Anthony (IL), Lincoln (NY)
Psychiatry: Cherry (NC)
OB/GYN: Michael Reese (IL), Chabert (LA)

So, yes, you can do all greenbook cores (Atleast, I think).

How often do these affiliations change? Would it be safe to assume that when our class (matriculating Jan 2006) gets into clinicals that this list would be quite different? How do these affiliations develop? Do you think there is any chance that we would get all of the cores in one city at some point? Thanks for taking the time to post in reply.

For the more advanced students...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I was talking to a psych doc and they weren't familiar with the term Greenbook rotation. When I explained it to them, as far as I understood it, they indicated that they didn't really believe it made much of a difference, or no difference at least for them...The DO had varying interests during their match and had been accepted to multiple programs....EM, FP, and PSY....obviously they chose PSY. They also did not apply to any of the Ivy league programs...So my question to those that are at the match or gone through the match is does it appear to make a difference for FMG's?

Greenbook

I don't think it makes that much difference when applying to residency programs. It is supposed to come into play when you apply for a State License. Some states don't care, some require 75% greenbook. I hear Texas wants all greenbook. If you spoke with a US MD that graduated in the US then he probably does not know the term "greenbook" because they did their cores at major medical universities which were all greenbook. Since it was a moot point among the US students, nobody every discussed it.

Since most FMG's have to take rotations where and when we can get them, greenbook concerns comes into play. In order for a program to be greenbook, they must have a residency program at that institution or be part of a residency rotating hospital.

I personally have not worried about it. Only a few states seem to care.

Peninsula Hospital, Far Rockaway

I believe Peninsula Hospital has residency programs if you look at the hospital's website, however, it is only recognized by the American Osteopathic Association. So it is not considered a green book but i think it is considered as a blue book. I don't know if this makes a difference or not since it is a teachining hospital for residencies.
