Thread: Confused about how Dorms are assigned?!

Hello:
I am just slightly confused about things with the dorm rooms. I was wondering if somebody who arrived recenlty to the school can really explain how dorm rooms are assigned. I understand that we have to live on campus if we come without our other halfs, but I have read that it is first come first serve, yet we have to fill out a form to send back to Mass. and be assigned a roommate and when I called they said that we could ask for a particular place to live. I am only asking because I really wanted to live in one of the 2-bedroom aprtments, where there is more space since I will have to share a place again with someone other than my other half. I don't know if I could share just a room. I really appreciate the responses. Thanks.

I was wondering the very same thing...I had heard first come first serve and now, it looks like there is no way I can get a single room (kind of thought that would be optimum for studying, etc. as I haven't done the dorm thing in 20 years or so!). They had said due to the high volume of students coming in Sept., the I would be assigned a roommate...so, though I know this doesn't clarify your question...I am just as confused and kind of bummed out. I was coming early to see if I could get a single. Anyway, one semester...I just hope it isn't 2 people in 1 room, that would be crazy...let me know if you find anything else out and I'll do the same.
