Thread: How heavy do weights go in gym?

Hi, I just wanted to know what the free weights go up to? Also, are there lat pull-downs, bench press (Flat, Incline barebell), leg press, squat rack, etc.

I've seen 80's, but I think there may also be 100lb weights... never looked for them so not sure :-) . Dont worry though, they have the whole set. In terms of the machines, they have ones for everything you mentioned, however the wire for lat pull-downs is broken and is awaiting replacement (its been months now...). Personally, I'm quite impressed by our gym here at the dorms... a great selection for Nevis standards.

In case you were wondering, the price for membership is $30 US or $75 EC per month (any 30 day time period, regardless of start date). There is also a semester long membership which could save you a few bucks but I dont suggest you get it simply because you may find yourself so overwhelmed with work that you may not be able to go all 4 months.

Another important piece of advice... BRING YOUR WORK-OUT GLOVES. If you dont, you may have to go to St. Kitts to buy a pair (IF they have them there)... unfortunately, Nevis doesn't exactly have any Foot Loecker's locations... so dont forget those gloves (and your own belt if you have one).

Any decent martial arts school in the island?

I am not aware of any schools of Martial Arts on the island. However I am quite certain there is one professor and a few students who practice their martial arts (patterns) on the school field. Perhaps you may run into them and be able to speak with them further about the topic...
