Interviewing
I don't want to sound discouraging, but the reason you don't find a long list of potential questions for your interview is that there aren't any. By any U.S. or Canadian Medical School interview standards, MUA's is a joke, so don't even sweat it if you've got half a brain and an ounce of compassion
Don't take it personally, or let it lower your self-esteem, that the school is so called "bottom fishing". I for one, believe the U.S. system fails many people who are perfectly capable of becoming doctors, but are shut out for whatever reason, including timing. (rrod this is not an invitation for more argument As for where to stay and what to do, please read many of the other threads that concern this as well as the SGA website, school website, and www.nevis1.com. Hope to see you in January! |

Hey Guys,
I just had an interview, pretty casual as I expected and I did not really prepared anything but answering from my personal experience. The questions were : 1. Identify and Tell little bit about yourself why do you want be a doctor ? 2. what are the 3 characteristics or qualities one should have to be a doctor. I don't know what exactly they were expecting because I am not big on vocabulary.... just I was able to give correct one : honesty, being truthful and hard working. Then he said, I just got one and he needs 2 more words atleast.... but I don' t know what are they. so, I Just added compassion, sympathy and empathize with patients etc.... I did not thought about that much .... because it could be any thing like patience, be kind, understanding etc.,.. etc.... 3. About my personal statement with the second Interviewer. Just tell about yourself where you have any clinical experience etc... 4. If I have any location or specialty preference during the clinicals etc... 5. how much you know about the island .... I said I am not looking for luxuries like here in US but interested in school and I came to know about this school thru one of your student just returned from Island after 20 months and preparing for USMLE 1. Overall, It went very well because I already have a masters in Bio a long time ago and grades are good ...etc.. I was just confident and talked very casual because my life taught me afterall these years ..... They only talked little about the basic and clinicals etc.. had I thought it is going to be like a job interview then I would have sweat a little bit. For this I had no preparation or what so ever except just being myself. Thank you Sargod and all the folks on this network for the info. I am looking forward to see you all in Jan 06. They said ... it is a short period of time and lot of things to do for me. so I really have to get ready fast .... Cooool. Oh boy is it a dream coming true or what ? I wish life was so simple in my previous years like this interview ! |

Hello Everyone,
I applied for the May '06 semester and recently had my phone interview on Wednesday, January 4th. The questions asked were very similar to ones you guys were asked. So thanks to you I had an idea of what to expect. I was basically asked why I want to become adoctor, what do I know about Nevis and MUA, have I ever shadowed a doctor before, and what are my views on stem cell research. Te rest of the interview was basically about getting to know me as a person and for me to know MUA a little better. I am curious though....how soon will I get a reply from them concerning my acceptance? Can anybody help me with this? Should i call to find out? The interview went well and it sounded that they had made a decision about accepting me. |

You will definitely hear from them within one week, or at most ten days given the holidays mail protocols. I say congratulations and get ready to join the band wagon any time soon.
