The interview is rather informal. But the main question will be related to how you think you will get along on an island of 15,000 people.

I got an interview next week, can you guys tell me what to expect from the interview? they told me that its informal, and to just be myself. No medical terminology or anything like that.

I applied and 2 days after, i got an interview. They said they reviewed my file and wanted to do an interview with me and to call admissions office to tell them what time is good for me. They said all this through email.

So now i have an interview next week. What should i do to prepare?
Can you guys post your answeres to the ethical questions regarding stem cell research and euthenasia? and what were the good responses for why you want to become a doctor? what are they looking for in that question?

Thanks alot.

Arrow You're in trouble if you can't formulate your own answers!

Most medical school interviews are informal. There are always the stock questions. One of these is "Why do you want to become a doctor?" If you do not know the answer to this question already, you are in trouble. There is no right or wrong answer to these questions. The interviewers want to know you as a person. Who are you? What are your personality qualities and characteristics? Do they match what one should expect of a physician? Can you think on your "feet"? Are you aware of the current issues facing medicine? Do you really know what the medical profession is about?, i.e. what is the typical day or week of a physician?

Your preparation should have already taken place before or at the same time you apply for admission. You should know why you want to become a physician. You should also know what some of the issues affecting medicine that you may face during your career. Giving well reasoned answers and having done an appropriate amount of research will show in the interview. The worst part of the interview for an applicant is being blindsided by an unexpected question. Most of the time though it is because the applicant didn't do an appropriate amount of research beforehand. Other questions to think about are how does managed health care affect the medical profession? or how can patients afford expensive drugs or other expensive aspects of health care? Again there are no right or wrong answers. The interviewers just want to know how you think?

You should know something about the island as you will be spending about 2 years there. This is true with any job interview. You should know something about the location you will be in!

Good luck, A_G

Hey Voldemort,

My application process took forever for some reason. I have to wait allot longer for the interview as well. I guess they felt my application was not as important as yours!!
Any way all the best with your interview!
I'm sure you will do well!!
If you applied for September we could end up in the same class.
