    Saba and MUA

Does anyone know the relationship between MUA and Saba?

They have the same address in Massachusetts, their websites look like they were made by the same individual, and Saba refers students to MUA for admissions.

Are these two schools owned by the same corporation?

First off MUA is not licensed to do clinical rotations in florida, which translates into being difficult to get a residency in florida. plenty of amu graduates are getting residencies in florida. MUA students do not have the opportunity to do a core and or elective in florida to try to show a residency program director what they are capable of. ST. Matthews does and has some nice acgme clinical sites.

In addition MUA is not recognized by california as smu is not. I highly doubt the owners of MUA are going to put the money in the application process.

Also st. matthews is far more established in new york in respect to clinical rotations.

okay I understand what you mean now. you're using the wrong terminology. licensure applies only to practicing medicine as a physician. so you don't get licensed to do a clinical rotation, you get approved.

what you are meaning is that MUA is not approved to do rotations in florida. however, licensure is the ultimate goal. so again, MUA grads can get licensed in FL even if one cannot do rotations as a medical student there.

For your information . MUA applied for approval to the California Medical Board on march 19th 2012. Please see this forum for a thread another confirmation of cali application (funny!)

    I quote from this thread

"Here's a link to the medical board of california's "international school review" PDF. You can find "Medical University of the Americas" listed here as "pending" and application received on march 19th, 2012......under the country....."NEVES"

    http://www.mbc.ca.gov/board/meetings...rterly-27c.pdf

So it appears that MUA is serious on getting Cali approval and most probably will.

So if MUA get's Cali approval then a student would be able to practice in all 50 states? Also what if you graduate from MUA and then MUA gets Cali approval after the fact, can u now work in cali or will only students at the school during approval be allowed? thanks
