    thinking about applying, but iffy...

I was reading about CT's requirements about accept foreign medical schools and it said as long as it was listed in the WHO's list and followed a bunch of criteria, this school was okay. I am thinking about applying, and was wondering how sucessful this school was with its graduates.

I do not have an MCAT score, altho I have about 3.1 GPA and volunteer experience, etc. I don't know how much it will hurt me not to have an MCAT score but I do want to start ASAP. I was wondering what your opinion and experiences are with MUA. Do I even stand a chance? Thanks

Hi I'm just starting in the fall, but I chose to go to this school for several reason I thought you should know. Take a look at MUA's residency placement fot the past four years... its pretty impressive. Secondly, they are operated by the same company who built SABA into a world class school. Third, MUA has already applied for and will likely get california approval... somewthing which other schools like AUA are not even in the process of achieving yet. You have a good chance of being accepted to MUA... My GPA was the SAME as yours (although almost 3.4 in sciences) and I had no MCAT, but I had alot of extra currics and research experience. The facilities at MUA are on the upswing as well, and although the older buildings may need an update, the tuition is VERY reasonable considering the curriculum is the exact same as SABA's. The choice is yours but believe me when I say MUA is a good school. Dont take my word though I havent even started. I just wanted to point you in the right diretion if you are researching the school. Good luck.

MUA does have good residency match rates, in my opinion, and I agree with you there. But Saba got CA approval years before the current company bought it So any credit for making Saba a world class school should go to its founder Dr DF. I just finished basic sciences at MUA recently and am in clinicals, but I have never heard that MUA has already applied for CA approval. I think you are wrong there, but you can prove me wrong with evidence from CA medical board. Also, considering how effective AUA has been in supporting its students by suing state medical boards into licensing AUA graduates, I would bet it gets CA approval before MUA. I wish MUA was as aggresive as MUA in support of its students.

The lady who did my interview said that they have already applied and are awaiting a review. And I know that AUA has not yet even put in the paperwork. At least thats what I heard from Dr. Woodward and Mr. Carlson at AUA. I was also accepted there but chose MUA for that very reason. Theres no chance AUA will get through before MUA does, although I do agree AUA is every bit if, not more qualified to get passed in Cali. They just havent put in their paperwork yet. According to the lady who interviewed me the school is "confident that they will gain acceptance in CA because the curriculum is the exactly same as Saba's and the facilities are at least equal in quality". Thats the best I can do for proof, take it or leave it.

Go to mua.edu click on get to know mua tab then click on the our graduates tab toward the top. Scroll all the way down to see pdfs of the res placements by year for the past four years.
