Is ED Invest the only way?

So now I'm on to phase two of this plan, which is trying to figure out how to pay for all of this. I understand that only AUC, Ross, and St. Georges get Stafford loans and Sallie Mae but is ED Invest really the only loan option for MUA and other non Big 3 schools? What is the limit on ED Invest? I spoke to a couple private banks and they looked at me like I was crazy. Davenport is not an option... Where is all this money coming from?!?!?

If you don't feel like you can take the Davenport route, then unfortunately Ed Invest is the only way. I don't even know how it works exactly with pre-med, so you might want to check on that too.

    $300,000 (aggregate) max on ed-invest.

Why not the davenport option? Seems most are taking edinvest/davenport combo aside from the self-pay students.

    Thanks Epidural and MDisME

I see that there is no other way with MUA, I didn't want to do Davenport because I didn't see a point to the dual degrees and it seemed like extra classes for essentially nothing other than federal loans and those loans are only for Davenport classes, but if I didn't take the classes I wouldn't need those loans. more debt for something I don't even need or want. It seemed really circular and just didn't seem to make sense to me.

Don't look at it like extra classes, more like a means to an end. Hey you might even find that you enjoy some of the topics. Many MD's say that they wish they pursued an MBA to get a leg up on basic business skills and health care management.

I agree. No matter what school I end up at, I really like the idea of the Davenport program. You have access to federal loans, and you get an extra degree in the process. Most people say the course load isn't too bad either. I read on the St. Matthew's forum that most students leave their Davenport work for the weekends, and spend 2-3 hours finishing it up. Sounds pretty doable.

I took a class and it was doable. You just read the asigned chapter and the notes the facilitator post and response to two of your coursemate post and also post your take on the topic/chapter(s). Occasionally, you write a paper here and there. Some of the medstudent in my class wrote two short pragraphs to summarize the whole topic and others wrote pamphlets. It's one class every 7 weeks. Take it as your 5th class in medschool.

An online MBA is quiet useless.
