Jacksonhole,
I am sorry that after years of hard work and you didn't matched.
But, I applaud your honesty for posting on here regarding your situation. While we all know only a certain number/percentage of Caribbean graduates matched, but we never really hear from those who did not matched. I appreciated your courage to post this about yourself. I hope it goes better next time.

Yeah only one thing: Get a 95+ on Step 1 and 2!!! The Match will be much easier for you. The foundation for getting a good score on those tests lies in how hard you study in basic science. The amount of time you get in Basic to study is a luxury, use it well.

Thanks so much Kronos. Words like yours help basic science students deepens their concentration on the most important part of medical school: the basic sciences.

Progression is the only direction!

<<<<<<<JACKSONHOLE>>>>>>>
I would like to compliment your persistence and wish you much luck...I too did not match for 2009...and although this is my first time, I know how emotional upset and doubt this may arise...But...I am a firm believer in anything is possible...If you want something bad enough, it's yours...just takes some time, effort and persistence!

But those of you who may be interested in why I did not match...well at least from my perspective is as follows:

Applied late...late October to Surgery
Then changed to Ob/Gyn after an elective in November
Limited myself to 30 programs in Cali.....which wasn't a very good idea considering I didn't have a California Letter which basically means programs won't even view your application....
Did a SubI at one of the hospitals of interest where I shined BUT...because I outshined a couple of the residents, they gave negative feedback...which is pretty messed up since ALL the attendings and staff loved me and wanted me there........
Step 1 over 200
Step CK just pass
Step CS pass.......all on firt attempts
I wouln't do SubI...rather just a return visit...and talk to everyone..smile

BE careful.........resident say is HUGE in the rank list! So ...don't outshine them! Don't question them or their knowledge (which I did)...Basically just answer when spoken to...

So......Good luck to everyone...hope the aforementioned helps
