Hi all. My welcome packet had the book list but didn't include any needed supplies (for dissection, etc). Can someone give me a heads up on that? Thanks.

not to be cynical, but I was very dissapointed to see that I didn't the Grant's Dissector (I mean, not at all), nor the scalpels, pliers, etc... it's all there, and you end up using what's lying on teh table or in bins, and there are dissector books all over the place.
Also, regarding scrubs, you can wear whatever grimey clothes you want to, the idea is just so taht you don't bring teh smells back into class. No need to pay for scrubs, but if you do, go cheap, thin, light, sometimes it's very warm in there.
Use your money on First aid for USMLE1 and start reading it from day 1, on the topics you are covering in class. It helps you to see the big picture, when you get lost in the minutia, in your daily class notes, slides, etc.
510 points hey spodat. as an incoming student, im apprehensive about not buying dissection stuff at all, even if they will be in the labs for use... i want to buy blades, gloves, at least one pair of scrubs. they have a whole dissection kit in the list of stuff we need but i dont think its going to be necessary to buy an actual kit.
-what size blades do you think we should bring? and where can i buy them?
-as far as gloves does it matter if they are nitrile or latex? how many boxes should we have?(i read others posting ~ 2 boxes should be suffice, since ppl will be bumming off of you and you will constantly be changing them)
-will i need anything else besides blades, gloves and scrubs?
510 points Jerseygirl, don't worry about buying any equipment for anatomy lab. The only thing you'll need is a box of gloves. 2 boxes should be more than enough. You'll have to use them throughout your time here for other classes. Buy whatever gloves don't give you an allergy. If you want to buy scrubs, you can, but it's not needed. Just some old clothes will do.
510 points I agree.. I bought a dissection kit and Grant's Dissector just to find out that Grant's dissector is available online, and I mean the entire book is there. Also when you really need the dissector is in the lab and trust me you don't want to leave that book on the cadaver tables and then have to take it home and put it on your desk and study. Bottom line is no need to buy the book since there are at least 8 or 9 in the lab just lying around.
As for blades.. don't even bother. Every equipment you guys will ever need to dissect is availble in the lab and it's available in multiples so you will never ever run out. I also bought a dissection kit... I used it 1 day and have never touched it since.
Hope this helps.
The above posts pretty much say it, except I'd go with 1 box of gloves, unless you plan to be handing them out daily. A box of gloves takes up considerable room in your luggage. Have fun!!
