    110/220 voltage & plug converter

    Hi everyone, quick question:

    1.
Is the voltage different in the caribbean compared to the u.s.?
    I've heard yes and no.
So would I need to bring a step-up transformer to plug in first before any u.s. appliance etc.?

    2.
Are the plugs different from u.s. as well?
so would I need an adapter?

thanks so much for any help, see you all on the island very soon.

every place I have seen (including the doorms) has exact same plug and voltage as the US. No power converter is needed.

The only difference is the frequency; which means that a basic plug-in clock from back home won't keep time properly but everything else without a clock will work just fine. This is why it is suggested to bring a battery powered clock or a clock that will work at different frequencies (world clocks)

Yeah, plus even for the clock, during orientation they cell phone companies give each student a free phone. And if you miss that, you can purchase a cell phone for really cheap that has its own alarm clock. I didnt even have an alarm clock. My wrist watch and cellphone clock served me well.
