Harsy, I hear ya...studing all the time takes it's toll on the physique.

Just to be truthful, though, I believe the decision/idea to have a gym was made by the faculty on the "space committee" and a student survey that was sent out a few terms ago.

Truth be told

I had nothing to do with the gym as whoru2 points out. Decision was made long before I arrived. The follow through will be on my watch.

great changes

It's wonderful to see that the new building will bring so many great and postive changes to the campus. The gym is just the beginning. I, for one, am excited and cannot wait for it to open. Delays are natural in Caribbean construction but I have faith it will open soon!

Dean T
During my time, I remember a survey sheet/petition form being passed around as to those who wants to have a gym on campus. A lot of us signed it thinking it would do future students a favor. A lot of students were working out downtown as you know how meager the facilites were at the rawlins dorm and being charged an arm and a leg. The problem with the gym downtown was its too far and takes alot fo your time travelling to and fro. These new students are lucky.....funny tho during our time when we had scarcity of resources, there were'nt as many complainers as there are now.

One suggestion Dean T, since muacampus website is now up and running, you think it is posible for enrolled students to be able to download ppt lectures from the website? This will really help the thumb drive-classroom situation as well as virus-security issues. what other schools do is as soon as they are enrolled for their particular semester they will then be allowed to log-on to their specific semester database where they can download the lecture ppt for their respective classes. It might also be more convenient to the respective professors, as all they need to do is upload their updated ppt lectures online. No need for them to worry about students bugging them for ppt lectures as they would be available on the website.

I second this idea! This would really help.

Not sure, if med 4 and 5s have such huge files. I have mainly seen them average around 2 - 16MBs per ppt. except some supplement material such as Neuro Videos - they definitely are big.
I guess, there could be an exception to the larger files where those maybe downloaded directly from the computer in the class.

None of our lectures are more that 14Mbs..
this would look more professional and less hassle.

What my school did (and probably still does) is host lecture files on a network drive that students can connect to from their own laptops wirelessly and copy from.

Work in progress

All this stuff will be part of the NEW building. Saba has servers and all the lectures are put on the servers and accessable to students that way. We will be using the same system, but it is being integrated into the new building, so we won't have it until it opens for classes... So in the mean time, thumb drives it is.
