MUA-N Forum under stricter Moderation

MUA Nevis users:

It's come to our attention that there are an unusually high number of violations on the MUA-N forum. As such, the MUA-N forum will temporarily be under stricter moderation until everything is sorted out. This means that there will be much less tolerance for even minor violations, and often without any courtesy PMs to edit the post(s) first to avoid infractions.

In addition, we've detected a very large number of multiple accounts being used on the MUA Nevis forum. In order to avoid inadvertently penalizing innocent users, a thorough investigation will be conducted before banning the multiple accounts and potentially reporting this activity to the proper authorities (including the school in some cases). However, this may take some time since it will need to be done manually.

Therefore, we very strongly suggest reviewing your posts over the past few days and edit as necessary to comply with the Terms of Service. If you're using multiple accounts, consider sending me a PM (or email support team) listing ALL accounts used and your preference of which ONE account you'd like to use from now on. If this is done BEFORE we discover it on our own, we'll let the violation slide and allow you to use ONE account from now on. However, if you are caught without having come forward, we won't be willing to help resolve the issue. But, if nothing else, picking only ONE account and sticking to it will show good faith while we investigate.

A message from the Dean

Anyone with any issues, complaints, suggestions, needing assistance should come see me or the Assistant Dean. We are both available 24/7. Ask students on campus and they will affirm that you can tell us anything without any fear of repercussions or reprissal. Again if you don't believe that all you have to do is ask around and if you even "sniff" that I am not being straight with you PM me the details and I will see to it that whatever is perceived as being incorrect will be addressed. The administration is fully committed to making MUA KNOWN as a first tier school. Our focus is on students and constructive change.

No disrespect meant-the Dean is really great but should any member of the school administration be posting on this forum? I thought it was for students. Nice idea to clean it up, however.

The reality is Jenna - we have school officials on VMD. Some are regular posters and other's are ID'd as school officials. School officials - play by the same TOS as other posters. I know that N.S. CEO of AUA has a VMD ID. Most of the schools (in the Islands and on the forum) and many program directors in residency programs (in the US) check VMD. My suggestion, stay within the ValueMD Term of service (TOS) and discuss, have fun and be good. The mods are students or past students and are here to keep VMD rocking but good for you and your school.

Jenna, in fact it is a good thing that a school official is available. When I was researching through med schools in the carib which would best fit me and my pockets (finances) I was initially having second thoughts about MUA as there was no school official available to ask questions about the school (unlike other schools). It is better to hear directly from a school official (musch more from the dean himself) than get information elsewhere that was just handed down.

Keep in mind, only ONE account per user and only ONE user per account is permitted. If individuals repeatedly violate of this, VMD can and will contact the proper authorities which can include your server and school. This has been done in the past with where individuals have in bad faith posted willfully against these terms and essentially behaved inappropriately. Lack of professional behavior does not bode well for a future physician and certainly doesnt help your record. This is your warning and consider it a courtesy as you are expected to know the Terms of Service tht you agreed to when you signed up.

Great News

Thanks for helping us clean up the forum. It can be a really valuable tool for new students if kept constructive. I really admire the SGU and Saba forum's-the students who post are helpful and usually professional. Jenna

Lightbulb To All Mua Students

Dear MUA Students,

Firstly, I appreciate the tireless efforts of the Dean and the Assistant Dean to help MUA become more professional and provide a challenging medical curriculum.
I know about the schools in the Caribbean and their medical programs because I have friends who attend Ross, St. James, Saba, Windsor, St. Eustatia and AUA. And indeed, we are not as great as SGU and Ross because these schools are more established and more recognized but there are no amateurs running this school. We are on the path of getting better and better compared to some of the other schools in the Caribbean. My post might get all sorts of comments and students might be lashing out agreements and disagreements regarding my perspective of MUA. I have only a few words for all the MUA students on Value MD.
Firstly, I do acknowledge that there are issues with this school like other Caribbean medical schools (we are no different) and each student may have differing opinions on what needs to be better or replaced or fixed. I have my own set of concerns regarding experienced faculty, class size etc but there is no need; in fact there is no reason to create commotion on the forum.
Secondly, I am not condemning people for their honest opinions whether they are in favor or against the school activites. All I want get across each one of you is that we need some PROFESSIONALISM-whether your opinions are curt or polite. Please show some respect for your peers and professors. Talking trash will yield no credibility to you or your statements. And we do have evaluations and a very good SGA-I am sure if your concerns are legitimate, the school will try to help us out or at least acknowledge them. We all have the same goals here to finish medical school- and do well with good USMLE scores. This medical school is committed to benefitting students because the administration, owners and the whole hierarchy are also benefitted from it-this applies to the owner and to the medical student-the recognition of the school is crucial. Talking trash on Value MD will only taint the recognition and efforts of students and the faculty.
Thirdly, please spend a few minutes on forums of Saba, SGU and Ross-note that the vast majority of students have beneficial, professional and ethical posts. We don’t need to succumb to dirty tactics, slander and misdemeanor on our part. Most of us did not make it to the American or Canadian medical schools, and this school provides us the opportunity to pursue our dreams. Recognize that and be thankful for that. And also you as an MUA student have much to be thankful for because there are major changes being made to improvise the curriculum. Study hard, contribute to help out, do well for your own benefit and fulfill your ambition-I thought this is what most of us wanted. So, please do yourself a favor and a favor to the MUA student community at large and don’t trash this school or it’s faculty to this extent. Honest opinion and constructive criticisms are welcome and I am sure I would agree with some of that. However, any change can be brought about by useful criticism and not by cynicism. I wish everyone good luck in all your personal and academic endeavors. Thank you for reading.
Peace
