Question about transportation

Besides transportation provided by the school from the dorm to the campus, is there any type of public transportation that takes students from the dorm to the central area? How far is the Rawlins dorm from the central area or area where there is a main supermarket? Do most students buy or rent cars or do they rely on the public transportation if there is any?

The school runs buses to and from the Rawlins dorms certain times of the day to get students to/from class. There are local H buses that you can catch to go to town. They don't run on a specific schedule, you just have to wait until one comes. I've usually waited no more than 20 mins. to catch a bus. If students have cars here, they either rent (usually rent is between 350 to 450 USD/month) or buy cars from students who are leaving the island. It takes about 30 mins. to get to town from school.

busses charge 4 ec to get to town, thats about 1.50US. Takes 20 minutes. During weekdays, they run by the school about every 5-15 minutes, I've done them a lot, and never waited over 20 minutes, but usually 5. Often get rides from other students. Coming back to school is much quicker. You may wait 0-3 minutes anywhere near town, for a return bus. They are just private people, driving these busses all day long, including Saturday (less frequent), and some on Sunday.

Seems like most students get cars or share cars.

The Rawlins dorm is in between School and "town". Time between school and town is about 20 minutes, rawlins dorm is abotu 5 minutes in that direction.
