MUA-Nevis an Accredited school?

Have a friend looking at med schools, and saw MUA-Nevis. Is this school accredited in the US? Tuition seems economical.

Any info is appreciated.

E2W is right, there is no formal "accredidation" process for foreign medical schools in the US.

MUA is accredited by the state of New York, same as AUA, St. Mathews and other schools. You can go to the school web site at mua.edu and check out the accreditation. Some people like to shoot from the hip. They don't know the facts, yet they offer a definitive wrong answer. An additional accreditation site visit from a European board is scheduled for next month.

The only association that is responsible for accredidation is LCME and it only accredits colleges that reside in Canada and USA. State governments play absolutely no role in the accreditation of medical schools. What you are referring to is the licensing of physcians by state-medical boards. Thus making you the one who is definitely wrong.
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) is the nationally recognized accrediting authority for medical education programs leading to the M.D. degree in U.S. and Canadian medical schools. The LCME is sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association

st george is accredited by the local government it resides in, but it is not a lcme-accredited school.

So in the interest of accuracy, your answer should have indicated that none of the Caribbean schools are accredited by lcme. Importantlly, several Caribbean medical schools graduates (in the thousands) are practicing in the US when the schools they graduated from are not accredited. Does that lend some credence to licensing by the various States? Selective information is not accurate information.

duh

we are Carribbean med students, not US med students. thus our schools are not accredited by the LCME. what does this mean for state licensing - well everything and nothing. we as graduates go through a different process of gaining a license set by different criteria of each state. some states require a school to be "approved" (not accredited, don't mix up these terms) while other states may require us to have all green book rotations or requiring our school to exist for at least 15 years.

so as i orginally said and E2W has said as well, there is no school in the Caribbean that is accredited in the US. if you are still confused or don't believe me, do a search, read some threads and hopefully that'll clear some things up.
