Agreed that it is different but if you were buying a HOUSE (as expensive as a medical degree) be sure you check EVERYTHING out. things like this are a sign something could be wrong...get explanations from the state medical board and from the school. az skeptic

i agree with azskeptic..

it doesnt take much for some lazy person at some state medical board somewhere to see a list like this and just adopt it without researching anything.. im sure it happens all the time... and then once added to a list it takes more work to be taken off of the list then it should because its up to the school to prove otherwise.. so although it doesnt seem to be a problem yet, it would be best to get this issue taken care of before it becomes one...

that being said i think the schools looking into it to prevent such a thing from potentially occuring..so it should be resolved soon..

re: Michigan

Why would a medical school be listed when considering civil service jobs? Looks like the state also hires medical doctors, or that if you want to work for the government of Michigan in any health capacity, your medical education at MUA will not count.

And, how would malpractice insurance company view your medical education if you do practice in Michigan, given that the state had already blacklisted the school? How about private hospitals?

What happens if you as a graduate of MUA gets sued? Can or will your opponent bring up the quality of your education by citing the banned school list?

I have no idea what the definitive answers are...

(I am assuming the blacklist continues. Maybe MUA will be taken off the list in the future. But as mentioned many times before with the CA/NY approvals, one needs to deal with the present reality rather than future possibilities.)

Except that if you go here:
http://www.state.mi.us/mdcs/asp/vaca...roup=humanserv
they are currently advertising for a psychistrist at the pay rate of $51.91 - $68.07 (per hour?).

Added on edit: a better job description is at:

what do blacklists do?

if you get sued in another state for instance, a savvy attorney will cite that your medical school is BANNED in another state. Insurance companies also look at things like this.

I would imagine MUA administration is on this but if I was a student I'd be sure that they get it fixed and tell you what is happening.

Those of you in the Carib. are sort of in the wild west of medicine...lots of new frontier to be seen.

re

I guess I didn't make myself clear in my last post, but there is no "blacklist" against MUA in Michigan for an Md degree I think that instead of speculation you really need to call the board in Michigan.

Another thing I find disturbing is that MUA does not show to be accredited by St. Kitts and Nevis see this link:
http://www.stkittsnevis.net/accreditation.html

It is interesting to note that IUHS is accredited by Nevis and St. Kitts and is not on the Oregon Diploma Mill website but MUA is! Perhaps if MUA got themselves listed on the St kitts/ Nevis website as an accredited tertiary organization, Oregon would remove them!!

hmm

That is quite weird. This is what the site says:

"No other tertiary level institution that claims to be operating in St. Kitts and Nevis is accredited by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, as at 3rd May, 2002. "

The school has been around before then hasn't it?
