If you apply to the Canadian match (CaRMS), can you still apply at the same time to the US match (NRMP)?

As a fellow Canuck who's starting MED 1 in May, I just wanted to say all the best to RobinWirth. Best of luck to you and hopefully you get your first pick, just the fact that there is a possibility of matching in Canada is great news!

I'll definitely keep you in my thoughs and prayers.
Again all the best and keep us posted!

Carms vs ERAS

I did apply to both US and Canadian matches. It helped that I'm Canadian. I have to say that there are only 11 spots for match this year in the whole country, whereas the US has 530 I think. The US match is March 12 and the Canadian one is March 14. You can apply to both countries but if you matchin the US you can't match in Canada - so to match in Canada you have to either not match or not rank any programs - its a tough choice but I'm happy to stay in Canada and if I don't match there is a second round. I hate the waiting.

For all of you on the island now - don't worry it goes by really fast. Study for the board exams they are VERY IMPORTANT. All the best.

Robin

You can apply to both matches, CARMS and NRMP, however if you match with NRMP, you are automatically dropped from CARMS. You do NOT get a choice.
It is in the CARMS rules.
Good luck, A_G

So if you don't rank any programs on NRMP, you're OK for the CaRMS?

If you don't rank NRMP but are entered in NRMP and then match NRMP, you are dropped from CARMS. BUT if you don't match NRMP, you are still eligible for CARMS. It is a risk so be careful with what you ask for!!
Good luck, A_G

Good luck Robin!! I am entering the May 07 pre-med class at MUA and it's nice to know (even though the possibility is small, I mean 11 spots for the whole country!! That's bull but whatever!) that it is possible to come back home. I do wish you all the best and please keep in touch on the forum. It doesn't have to be much but by having your experience other Canadians can follow your guidelines.

Again congrats and good luck with your match results (UofT would be a great match so pls let us know if you do get it!!!)

Melian

Wish me luck and pray for me on March 14!!!

Has anyone got pre-match offers, matches in the SF match, etc. Love to know.

Robin
The official results are due in a months time. I wish you the best of luck.

Anyone from MUA get matched today? I notice almost every other top school posting match results, but no one from MUA?
