How'd you get your housing? (not dorms)
FOR THOSE NOT IN DORMS (family people, or upper termer's)
Curious, did most of you get yoru housing through MUA's housing department/person???, or when you got there. Was it more flexible, better to do it on your own, or via MUA? Is there any local Nevisian "leasing agent"?? Thanks. |

talk to current students as many know of houses for rent. realtors are usually expensive - i dealt with a REAL BAD one this eester, then again i had the roommate from hell... put up a thread asking if anyone knows of a house for rent with the specs you prefer (don't make them too outlandish tho), and see if anyone can help you out. i was going to setup a house for a couple of girls coming down in january, but we fell out of touch till recent n now they're stuck with whatever sharon throws their way.
i know some people in non-dorm housing that liked it and their roommates, but i have heard horror stories also. talk to shoron, ask for specific stuff and make up a reason you NEED (not just want) a single/close/etc place, as housing is getting scarce on the island (especially without a car), and more expensive. aii - to biochem exam! stookie, go study! |

webb - ur long overdue for our beer also! anyhoos, i went with a realtor last semester also, she never did much but the house was beautiful, pricey n not really maintained that well, n she was a beeswax to get my deposit back from. good luck with that stuff ppl, as the horror stories r real, but that's y u research for a year like our mr webb here

If anyone is reading this thread for housing info...
BEST BET? Believe me, from very recent experience, do not rely on MUA housing dept. it is slow, non-existent, or dual motivated, not sure which.
IF YOU WANT TO RENT A HOUSE, DO THIS....call people on SGA's website housing list (clarence jeffers, insanely kind man, hooked me up all over the place), and all the property managers down there know eachother. They are very kind, will connect you up......YOU WILL INSTANTLY KNOW THE PROPERTY MANAGERS FROM TEH OCCASIONAL HOUSE WATCHERS (who are also listed on the list)...BECAUSE THEY SPEAK ENGLISH as opposed to Nevisian. TRUST THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE WAS NOT A SHORTAGE OF HOUSING, AS IS OFTEN COMMUNICATED BY CERTAIN PARTIES....we had 3 various houses available to us in no time at all.... AND AMAZINGLY, MUA housing finally started emailing, calling, sending photos as soon as I mentioned names of other property managers. 2+2 = duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
