    why so many canadians?

why are so many canadians going to MUA and not the more established caribbean schools? wont this only make life more difficult for you when applying for residency in the US and/or coming back to Canada?

And no, you said you did NOT get an interview due to the pool that you were placed in due to provincial residence.

Negative Comments? Sorry for presenting the reality to your disillusioned mind.

PS: I love how you blame the system instead of yourself for not even getting an interview (FYI you can get interviews with like an 83% average)

Stupid Comment...."you said you did NOT get an interview due to the pool that you were placed in due to provincial residence"

No........I had an interview date for months....they pulled it at the last minute..........

do you have a lot of time on your hands???? cause thats what it seems like....

Just to verify, jburkmar is correct. For eg - If UBC has 25 seats, 23 are reserved for BC students and 2 for international or other provinces combined. Same is with other provinces as it has the ratio mentioned in the MSAR book and also individually on their websites.
Only Ontario has schools that doesnt have so many reserve quotas and u of t does give a fair advantage to everyone.

Yes..Forkdork, its extremely tough to gain admission with 90% in a canadian school just because you dont meet residency requirements for another province. So for those 2 seats, 200 people apply - and they dont interview 200..trust me on that. Not only that, unless you have done family practice, you will have to write 3 or i believe 4 exams to get certification in canada despite clearing USMLEs and fulfilling residency requirements.

I'm not really sure why you need to spend time trolling around on here posting these random negative comments, but in the end after we gain residency and licensure, it doesn't matter where we went to school...everyone has to pass the boards.

Really though, nobody (or at least not myself) cares whether you think we aren't good enough, in the end we will be where we want to be. I just think its a waste of your time and energy to be so downtrodden.
.---> actually jburkmar is correct that you still have slim to no chances of getting in even with a gpa that high and excellent mcat scores, I have a friend at McMaster University, who has a GPA of a 3.96 ( he has only recieved a total of 4 A's rest all A+) and an MCAT of 32, yet did not even get a single interview, as well another friend who had an gpa of 3.93 and an mcat of 33 and got a couple of interviews but was waitlisted and has not gotten in. It is extremly hard to get in now days in Canada no matter how high your marks are.

on the other side of the coin....i have a good friend who got into u of a med school after two years of undergrad. his stats? gpa: 4.0 (all A+ except 2 courses) and mcat: 39
the car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel and the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides and a dark wind blows. the government is corrupt and we're on so many drugs with the radio on and the curtains drawn. we're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death.

Unless you're francophone or a native, then the requirements lighten up.

very true, as well, living in quebec or nova scotia also helps out alot as the gpa is not as strigent as ontario

Oh tough guy! Is that all you deal with all of your problems? Keep it up E-thug.

Yes im Canadian and I also know TONS of people who have gotten in with less than 90. Did you even look at the applicant pool criteria before you applied to any university? TBH seems like none of you did your homework in highschool when applying to your universities (There are tons of people who I went to school with who got less than 90). There are schools which consider applicants as in province after 3 years of residence in that province (Did any of you who are man's best friending about the system take the time to look for such schools?)

Do I have alot of spare time? I'm trying to help my brother get into med somewhere because he isn't of the caliber of Canadian Med Students. Someone told me of this forum so I checked it out. How is this relevant to your argument against me?

BTW: That "What goes around Comes around" saying is total ** made up by some sucker who got totally screwed and wanted to feel better about his/her pooh poohty life. Thx

Oh and I had an 3.82 GPA - Applied to 3 schools and got interviews at all 3 - Keep on bringing out the stories of people with 4.0 GPA's who don't get interviews, they amuse me. Oh, and I people who got accepted with less than 85% avg's (along with TONS of people who were in the 85-87 range).

EDIT: I just checked the UBC website- The average GPA invited for interview was 82.5% for inprovince (Requires you to live in BC for 2 YEARS) and 85 for OOP. Oh and only 2% of the people who got admission in 2005 had over 90% with 44% of the class coming from the 80-85 range.

Some of you really are clueless. Oh and the system didn't fail, you did (especially the person who posted that they got in with a 2.9GPA- Now that is incompetance at its best).

    Love,
    Forkdork.
