Thread: Is It Loan Fraud?

Certain persons are wondering what is happening with the money owed to them for clinical rotations. It appears that the school has misplaced student loan money as well as the dean of students, and the financial aid director, and everyone else who carries a title at that school. It is well known that students doing rotations in Atlanta are left to fend for themselves. This school has not made payment for student rotations in months, eventhough this school has recieved loan payments. dr. r has gone missing, no one has seen or heard from her in 3 weeks. So who is teaching her classes while she is apparently "out of the country". Some consideration should be made about getting this ordeal figured out, but it has become ovious that dr. r and staff are unwilling to cooperate

We have been quiet to long in fear of consequences of talking. But it has gone to far. Many students in clinicals have been paying out their pocket to GMC because the school has not paid for clinical rotations. Some students have paid their tuition in advance AND some never recieved their Teri checks and have been paying OUT OF POCKET. It has come to the point some may have to work to stay in clinicals, some of us have already MAXED out our credit cards. Many of us have been calling day after day for months. None of us has gotten a call back or even an email as a response. What is the professionalism?? Students trusted their money with the school and many of us just want to know when are the rotations going to be paid? Why haven't the rotations been paid? Why hasn't the adminstration gotten back to us? They must think money grows on trees for us. Many of us rely on Teri loans. I find it almost unimaginable that this is happening and irresponsible AND embarrassing. Many people know that we are the school that doesnt pay. We dont want to start clinicals with a cloud over our head already. The question is what can we do?? We cant reach adminstration? How do we get them to pay ON TIME? TO PAY AT ALL? To RESPOND. This is not in disrespect to the school but they have to understand the situation, im sure if they were in this spot they would be more than frustrated and irritated with the lack of response and the situation that has occurred. As I look at it many students have been quiet and gave more than enough time for the school to work this out, but it seems the school has used our quiet and submissive ness as an advantage to their part. Its time to speak out. All we want is our rotations paid or or Teri checks given on TIME, Nothing more than was supposed to be given. Many of us are STUCK!!! We have nobody to speak for us and take care of this situation. Yes we are on are own unfortunately.. Good luck to all on the rights we do not have as students........

We are not alone in this fight as I have taken it upon myself to get Teri loans involved in this matter. The school is currently under investigation for the where abouts of missing money. Please join me in this fight to resolve this difficult situation. It is important for any student in this situation to e-mail Teri at Be as informative as you can as this will only assist them in their investigation. It is very urgent that you contact them as soon as possible. They are taking this very seriously. We need to all stick together on this matter.

I have some concerns. Since both you and "inquiring" have each posted twice on this forum and only signed on within the last 30 days...what is your agenda?

If you are indeed classmates then you should have access to the rest of your class and be able to reach them directly. I think that there appears to be a credibility issue here and I am not so sure that the finger should be pointed at the school.

Your statements appear to be a mixture of truths, partial truths and misleading statements....interesting combination :-)

Im sorry if the agenda was not more clear in my last statement since you obviously have done research on my time on valuemd and give me the idea you are not a student in clincals, because if so you would not be saying that point blank. It apparently seems that you are trying to find out who we are. This is how we know. There is no issue of reaching other students this is how we KNOW ROTATIONS ARE NOT BEING PAID. However, again the agenda is just to have rotations paid for. I am more concerned at why you think their are half truths? It is true that many rotations have not been paid! It is an absolute TRUTH that some rotations have not been paid!! I didnt say that ALL were not paid but mostly. Why should even ONE rotation go UNPAID?? So please tell me "hishirlee" why should we not point the finger at the slow response of the school? They haven't responded to our inquires, since you seem to know so much please explain that? Furthermore, do you have information why rotations were not being paid, please share... Your thoughts are "greatly" appreaciated. Im sorry that you feel we are "pointing" the finger, but if you were in this situation, then you would understand, because from your viewpoint I can tell ur not. If your rotations were not being paid and you the administration wasnt responding how would you feel? I truly feel sorry if you believe their is a negative agenda, which there is not. We just want to finish medical school point blank.

hishirlee you can't be serious! To question the motives of students who are new to this forum shows me you are paronoid. You are obviously a student who has no clue of the situation here in Atlanta. Did you ever think this is a means for us to get the administration to finally acknowledge what they are doing to us here. Do you know what it is like to call the school everyday and be told Dr. R is out of the country, has stepped out, is in a meeting, is teaching a class, proctoring an exam and the excuses continue from there. Now you, hishirlee, put yourself in our shoes and do that everyday for 3 months or longer and then let me make judgement on your motives. Last year Dr. R failed to make payment on her students at GMC Group and continues to do so. The only reason students continue to rotate here in Atlanta is because we are paying our own way. If you, hishirlee, don't believe this why don't you contact GMC Group and ask for yourself. If you are so concerned about this why don't you ask Dr. R to explain what is going on with her students in Atlanta rotating through GMC Group.

Disturbed are you sure you want to get TERI involved? The one good thing about the school unlike some of the other schools, when Medachiever bounced, this school still had TERI. Getting TERI involved may actually cause them to pull out from the school then what are you going to do?

Newone also has an interesting point of having Teri involved. There are two sides to this story. Its such that if you dont get Teri involved what happens to the students who have not recieved their money do they have to "sacrifice" their own money to survive in medschool and chance never seeing the money again? There is also the chance of Teri pulling the plug on loans for the school then everybody might loose. The thing is, it really depends on which side of the fence you were on. If you are awaiting a Teri loan in clinicals you "have to pay" to go to clinicals, unlike in basic sciences where if the teri loans are held by the school you can still go to class. Then again if teri loans get pulled all together no body goes anywhere, but then what happens to the students awaiting their loans due they still get them? What a dilemma.
- Then again, is it fair really what the school is doing, where is the justice for the students awaiting their Teri loans. I could understand if the school is respondin to the inquiries, but no response makes them look questionable. Hopefully this can be resolved with out Teri pulling the loans but straighting the school out in the sense of following the correct guidelines on loan disembursement.
