School Does Exist But....
albiet different form. merely a shadow of itself during the "hayday". you can check it out yourself in downtown san pedro. it is just a typical non descript small building where it has been converted into some class rooms and there is a portable outback used as a anatomy lab. student count: less than 10. professor count:4 the school rep said this is not the ideal solution because it sure seemed gaudy. but the school will be back soon in the original building and then again may just occupy a portion of the building and not the whole campus as the good 'ol days. i was there a few years back. i have since transfered but san pedro has stolen my heart. my posts are not meant to condone or promote mua belize. STAY AWAY FROM MUA BELIZE. choose a program that is stable and the wheels are not coming off like this school. i just cannot stand sensationalization and lies. enough is enough.

why hasn't the address changed?
and why aren't they answering their phones? the address is still listed on the website as 1000 coconut drive, the location of the boarded up building that I saw, and also matches pictures in the uploaded photos on this website - looks like a scam to me.

The school is indeed a scam, if you are speaking of getting a legitimate medical education. I pity the poor, ignorant souls who are there wasting time and treasure. Be smart. Stay away from MUA BELIZE. Find a real medical school and pursue your dream.

yes it is a scam if you can call.....
having mua belize students in residency. i know this to be true because of 2 off my schoolmates are both in internal medicine one in the state of LA and the other one is in North Carolina. Obviously for them to get to that juncture they had to have completed USMLE'S, but if it is a "scam" then how did they qualify to write the exams? if it is a "scam" how come it is recognized by IMED and WHO? if it is a "scam" why is the office in the U.S. and licensed as a medical institution in new england? i left mua belize sometime ago, but the school as i saw it, never "scammed me" i left because i was forced to after loans were dropped. i went because from the get go the school was backed by SABA. the only scam is somebody claiming they went and had a vacation on ambegris caye and immediately it turned into somesort of dateline nbc investigation and the some random person from the u.s. has such zeal and passion to find out what is happening at some foriegn medical school and right away was able to get intel when the rest of us it took years to develop an understanding of what is going on. there's nobody on vacation. it is the same batch with alter egos. mua belize is not very good but that holds true for all belize schools. but some of this fishy comments are really off the cuff. give it a rest.

i'll tell you what's fishy
What's fishy is a website that has information listed that is not correct. There is no med school at 1000 coconut drive - no one answers the phone, there aren't even any faculty members listed on this website! After reading the postings on this site and digging into this I am truly shocked that they do not have some sort of announcement on the website of the status. If they are only staying open with limited operations and have moved then they should state that - to not do so looks like a scam operation.
I had a great vacation on the island though...ate at jambal jerk every chance I got...shark-*** alley? awesome - best snorkeling ever - and the people on San Pedro are terrific. I highly recommend the island for a vacation, but for your medical education?........... Why do I bother? I tried to find this place myself and am just reporting what I saw - I only post here to warn any potential students (I work with pre-med undergraduates every day) - no matter what the school please do plenty of research before you give your hard earned money and mental energy to any school. cheers |

Likely Culprit
Gee Gosh, AVOIDTHENOID sure sounds like BillyBill, Carebear, SaveDafur-same old tired defense of an operation that has no defensible position. My former landlord told me that the former dean holds classes in her home. That does not sound like a new administration to me. Yossarrian

I was thinking that too. I am learning first-hand about reincarnations here. |

Yes I agree. A "new" poster with only 4 posts and and a foundation of knowledge of the situation begins to weigh in? Wow what are the odds of that?
Avoidthenoid, Billy, SaveDarfur, Rrenee, CareBears: Gosh just go away. You should praise god if there are ten fools on the planet who are sitting in your one room shack, paying you "tuition" and thinking that they are actually getting a respectable medical education! Wow, talk about people not being able to see the Emporer is not wearing any clothes! Sheesh! Last edited by Anthony Thomasson : 03-07-2008 at 12:52 AM. |
