I was just in San Pedro and there is no Medical School

Hello, I am a prof. in the US and was just on vacation at a little resort just north of San Pedro. When I arrived I noticed on the map a "medical school" so wanted to check it out. We took a little trip down there and it was closed - boarded up and a for sale sign posted. We asked around to some of the locals about it and they said the school is definitely closed. We even met someone on the water taxi just chatting and they said they knew someone who had come down there to go to medical school and it had closed but didn't know why. So when I got back I wanted to find out what happened - did some googling - and found this forum, so thought I would post this to let you all know this doesn't seem like a legitimate school and give you my firsthand account from the island. I thought it was so weird when I visited the website that it would be up, and now I know why. I really hope all you pre-meds out there looking to get into medical school check things out thoroughly before you do anything. If nothing else, if I were you I'd go there and check out a school firsthand before giving them a penny.

Okay that's all, carry on.

Someone Give Him/her Vidocaine

HELLO BUDDY, you had us going there i sure gotta admit that much! i was compelled to post on valuemd after reading this particular post. this one is soo far gone it takes the cake! I was on ambergris caye too not that long ago (matter of 3 short weeks) but my eyes sure were playing tricks on me as i made a skip and a hop to check up on my former school, no surprise there, no school in that building. BUT THERE WAS NO BOARDING UP OF ANY KIND AND NO FOR SALE SIGN POSTED! TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE! the school building appeared to be put to good use as a center for critical response, a print media office, and also houses official government offices for the belize military, and one more i saw was some type of political strategic office for local governments. the school building is being used by many different entities who are utilizing the class rooms for hurricane supplies, social welfare services etc. TRUE THE SCHOOL NO LONGER EXISTS ON CAMPUS, BUT THIS POST OF IT BEING BOARDED UP AND FOR SALE IS RUBBISH.

what is the professor been drinking in san pedro? there is no map marked with medical school. the maps are advertisements and coupons and only paid businesses and emergency services are marked. the streets are not even officially named. where is this san pedro map available from? the one i picked up is a coupon poster with tourist interests marked. it only covers san pedro proper town. no schools, no residential areas, nothing of that sort. how many are buying the professors sensationalist story?

here is a map with med school marked

San Pedro Town, Belize Maps, Ambergris Caye

Um ok, well if you've been there you haven't looked at the maps posted on every street and downtown clearly showing the medical school marked - which btw is 1000 coconut drive the address currently listed on the web site. When we got down there the road had ended where they were placing pavers and golf carts were cutting through the front "yard" of the med school to get around the construction - it was clearly boarded up, no one there - I know there was a sign either for sale, rent or lease, but it was clearly out of commission. It's a shame, this is a fabulous island too bad miss management lead to it's demise. Perhaps you (they) are trying to portray this as being a viable school long enough to sell it -one would think someone with some sense and business savy and of course some ethics could do well in that setting.
