    Letter Re: Closing London Campus

    Advertisements

    Dear UK students;
In an effort to ensure the academic consistency of the Basic Science program, it has been decided that the University can best serve the needs of the present students in the first through fourth semesters at the Belize campus. It was felt that to guarantee the completion of all needed tasks, that the UK campus will hold the first four Basic Science semesters again in September 2007. (Another last minute decision when students have spent thousands on housing or remained in the U.K.)
This is due to several reasons.
The main reason is to ensure that all of our paperwork is completed and processed with the UK government so that students are able to obtain their student visa to enter the U.K. As you all know, this was a very important issue for all of you last semester. ( Students without visas last term could not get them as the school is not legally operating in the U.K. )
Secondly, there are several of you who desire to ONLY practice in the UK or Canada. With the new rules from the General Medical Council, it is required that you complete the 'majority' of your program in the country that holds the charter. Since 'majority' is most safely defined within their criteria as at least four semesters, you will HAVE to complete your remaining Basic Science semesters in Belize. (No proof exists that the General Medical Council will ever license MUA Belize grads. The country clearly does not want this type of school given the St. Chris fiasco)

Thirdly, the relationships with the lab providers were not able to be finalized due to the death of my father and my own declining health. I will be having my surgery on Friday, January 12, 2007, with a recovery time period of 4 Ė 6 weeks at which time I will be able to dedicate my efforts to complete this task. ( Always some emergency or excuse for disappearing for weeks.)

Fourthly, to allow time to ensure that a facility which is more suited to the needs of the University is found. At the present time, the Board feels it is a better decision for the University to find a facility which it can purchase verses placing money into renovations of a rental facility. Thus having the new start date in September affords us the time to make a wiser investment and ensure the stability of the UK component. (What Board? The doors of the BZ campus have been locked due to nonpayment to the owners. The investors claim they hold notes of over 2 million and that checks from R.S. and J.S. bounced-they are the board.)

Finally, the Board will be instituting improvements in the corporate structure as well as in the academic curriculum and the implementation of these changes is better executed and fine tuned in one location. (They canít pay the rent in London for a few rooms at International House or pay the instructors so how will they afford London property!)

The Board realizes that this is not what was planned and realize that this does come at a financial cost to you. So in a good faith effort to help defray this cost, the Board has approved to give each of the September 2006 pre-med, 1 st, 2nd, 3rd semester UK students a credit on their tuition for the next three semesters. The amount for the January 2007 semester will be $2000 US for each student who was in the UK for the September 2006 semester who does come to Belize for the January 2007 semester. The amount for the May 2007 and September 2007 semesters will be $1000 US for each student who was in the UK for the September 2006 semester who does come to Belize for the May and September semesters. (How will this compensate students who spent 20K or more last semester in tuition and expenses trying to live in London?)

Please note that the 5th semester will remain in the Boston area for this semester and future semesters. Grades for the September 2006 semester will be available after week 4 of this semester. If you have not received your booklist for this semester, please email ***** at the US office tomorrow ******** For information on flights and housing to Belize, please email ***** at the Belize campus ******* . (So, does MUA Belize have a letter from Massachusetts allowing it to operate in the USA?????? Is anyone really dumb enough to fall for this plan?)

There is no entry visa needed for those individuals who are from the US, Canada, or European Community. For all others, if you have a visa to get to the US, you may obtain and entry visa to Belize from the Belize Embassy in either, New York City, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles or Atlanta. The only requirement is that you have a return ticket to the US. Note that the last day of the January semester is April 27, 2007. (Better to transfer or stay out a term,)

This is our 'cold' and windy season, so you will need a light jacket and a rain coat would also be good. The lecture halls are air conditioned and are sometimes too cold. There is a 24 hour study room, wireless internet access, and a functioning Student Government association. (Caught in another lie-the school only rents and does not own the building which is up for sale according to other posts.)

The island is very charming, people are very friendly and though there are nowhere near the 'entertainment' options as there are in London, there are opportunities to see things that you would probably never see; Mayan ruins, Rain Forest, 2 nd Largest Barrier Reef in the world. The water activities are amazing and the caving, hiking, and tubing are exquisite. The cost is much less and the weather will be a lot better! (Try and distract students from the fact that there is no real faculty or instruction.)

The Associate Dean, Dr. G.S., will be on hand for the Orientation on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 10am. This is to orientate you to the island and the school. The classes will begin on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. For those of you who may have a difficult time making travel arrangements, there will be excused absences for you until January 23rd; i.e. as long as you are able to make it to the island by that date, you will be allowed to start the semester. (Where is the new Dean who is supposed to save the school? Isnít this Dr. G.S. a fulltime physician on the island?)

Best wishes to you all. I will be in the office until Thursday evening and will then not be as accessible for at least a week. After that week, will only be doing half days in the office for the next several weeks or until I regain my strength. I look forward to seeing you all and having you enjoy our little bit of paradise. ( Anyone dumb enough to fall for this deserves the poor education and money loss guaranteed per prior experience. I transferred to a real medical school and started over; best decision in my life!!! If the owners try and hold up your transcript call the loan company, TERI, and report them. They are not allowed to do this if you are paid up and in good standing.)

    Sincerely,
    R.S.

oH MY I JUST could not resist-

    oH MY,

    THERE IS A GOD.

thank you so much for posting this.

Ok to everyone that ignored my posts well here it is the proof. You will never see any money refunded to you because as i recall most students at MUA-b in belize were constantly questioning where there money was after the loan company paid it to the school for basics and for clinicals. In regard to YOU HAVE TO GO TO BELIZE, what if you change your mind then what? These people will never take any responsibility for there actions- it is always one excuse after the other. Oh for the beautiful island did not a certain BILLYBILL post that the locals were drunks and stayed at bars- makes you wonder how safe the island is and in who's view. Another certain someone wrote that the school was decent well i questioned that.. but hopefully people can judge for themselves now.

I have prayed constantly for God to let these people pay for what they have done because no one deserves to be in the place they have put so many other students. Thank you God for making it become a reality.

For all the students GOD BLESS YOU AND PLEASE DO POST YOUR EXPERIENCE BECAUSE KARMA IS A REAL THING AND BY HELPING OTHERS YOU WILL BE HELPED. I hope all of you find your way through this and choose wisely what steps you take next. I do sincerly feel for all of you trust me i know how it can be.

Oh God, may you smite those against whom I have a petty grudge, for I cannot overcome my Belikin induced stupor long enough to do it myself.

Come on, if you want anyone to take you seriously, don't post here when you're drunk.

    Expelled Hard

STUDYHARD, please focus your misplaced anger and channel it into actually studying hard, which most likely wont happen, however, since your well into adulthood, please grow up and accept responsibilty for failing out, once you accept you can move on, and sorry, but dont blame the school or your class mates or island buddys, everyone warned you about your reckless lifestyle and total disregard for school, your constant bashing will only hurt yourself and your chances at succeeding at your 4th medical school (which is a fact, so please do not deny), i say all this with the upmost respect, because i do believe you are very intelligent and crafty, and if you apply yourself you will one day make it to the end. IF YOU HAD NOT BEEN EXPELLED FOR RECKLESS BEHAVIOR AND POOR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, YOU WOULD BE SINGING ALL PRAISES FOR MUA BELIZE, I mean c'mon man, you were in tears when you were told you had to leave and we did feel sorry for you, but now man up, and accept it for what it was, ALL YOUR FAULT p.s..sigh!! NO I'M NOT ANYTHING MORE THAN A STUDENT, BUT I WILL STAUNCHLY DEFEND MY ALMA MATER I'M PROUD OF MY SCHOOL AND EVERY SCHOOL HAS BUMPS IN THE ROAD, AND I WILL GRADUATE IN ONE YEAR OR LESS SO NO ONE IS GONNA COMPROMISE MY EDUCATION WITH RUMOURS, CHILDESH CONJECTURES AND NONSENSE, SORRY IF YOUR JEALOUS STUDYHARD, BUT YOU CAN DO WELL AT YOUR NEW SCHOOL, JUST APPLY YOURSELF.

Ah, attacked the person instead of the message...

What about the post of Yossarrian?

MUA-Belize seems to be in trouble.
