Thread: Agu/ Belize /mua

What is with this AGU school. I am very curious to know how many Profs and Students since the place is new and I cannot get a straight answer, much less any answer??????????????????? Also, MUA is in san pedro which is known as being a great place to live (along with caulker caye), I seriously doubt Belmopan is that nice. Can anyone enlighten me on this.

San Pedro is a great place to live!!! it's very tourist oriented and very safe. Students from the other schools actually come to san pedro on the weekends, because they bored out of their minds and plus Belize "mainland" is rough and inhospitable. I'm a clinicial student at MUA belize, which is an accredited school and already has it's own permanent campus.mua belize has been in san pedro close to 6 years now. BE VERY CAUTIOUS and weary of these "new schools" popping up, they do not have credentials and are at best temporary. plus living in belize mainland is risky, high crime, disturbances, haressment, where' you'll find no such thing on the island of ambergris caye.

don't really know what you are asking, but MUA Belize has nothing to do with MUA Nevis, and Saba.... some past history together, but it's moot. MUA belize is very not accredited by anyone (California, NY, anyone). MUA Nevis is very legit. I would be wary of posters here acting like students, etc. who are actually trying to get a school off the ground (could be legit. school or not).

Do a bit of research and you'll see that the only real options for a comfortable sense of future licencing (btw, you can get a residency after going through something online like UHSA, this is on a whole different order of importance) is MUA Nevis, SGU, Ross, SABA, and AUA (if I have initials right, sorry, the real legit on on Antigua), St. Mathews (SMU), maybe St. Eustacius (not sure).

BillyBill you sound like an ad for the school!! But you are right about AGU. It's a new school and regardless of anything else, let it season for 3-5 years and maybe it will be better or stable...................

MUA Belize is a legit school. They had some rough times recently, but things are back to normalcy.

It is only fair to say that the school makes a good attempt to assist students in fulfilling their dreams. It is up to you (the student) to enjoy beautiful and enchanting San Pedro, but focus on your studies (use the kaplan books in the library and make the first aid book your wet-dream).

i'm A STUDENT at mua belize..nothing more..nothing less..mua belize is ACCREDITED and listed with the governing bodies. Belmopan is real rough, and not very safe, stay away from MUA NEVIS, my sister GOT SHAFTED when it was rotation time..THEY SHIPPED HER OFF TO IRELAND, otherwise she was told there are NO available clinical spots in USA, she excelled on boards, she was told there is a 9 MONTH WAIT LIST for clinicals in USA, whereas i attended mua belize and i went direct into clinicals in USA with very minimal wait, be weary of these so-called students from mua nevis posting here, they are nothing more but recruiters as nevis is plagued with problems and they are in need of vulnerable students.

If one excels on the USMLE, I am assuming that is not a gaurentee of a clinical????????????????????

How many students are at AGU and how many profs>

Ask current students who are trying to complete their rotations in the US and belong to MUA-B . . . Students have to pay their own way (including getting their own medical malpractice insurance) because . . . well . . . everyone in the US knows that MUA writes bad checks and no one will do business with them, so in turn . . . "belonging to this so called professional medical school" . . . students pay their tuition to MUA, are left on their own to try to get their own rotations and then in addition to paying their tuition to MUA, they have to also pay hospitals and insurance companies directly just to try to get their clinicals taken care of . . . There are two (large) placement services in the US and one (smaller) placement service in Chicago, IL . . . Ask them if they will accept a check from MUA-B . . . To find out the truth about MUS-B's clinical rotations . . . contact the MUA-B administration . . . ask them where they have contracts to place students in clinical rotations. When they tell you . . . ask for the direct names and telephone numbers of the persons who signed the contracts from the hospitals . . . make a few telephone calls to make sure these contracts are legitimate and of course ACGME . . . always do your own homework . . . there are a lot of people posing to be students having a wonderful time with a university and in reality . . . are only plants from the schools themselves.

it is sad indeed, a lot of "newbies" who are students at other universities come on this forum only to negate the competeing school, and spread negativity. I AM DOING CLINICALS WITH MUA BELIZE as of now, and i checked everything out, and i will not compromise my future, and i'm confident that muab is on a solid footing. sadly some "newbies" come here to bash our school after being expelled and our themselves "planted" by their new school only to bash us in exchage there elevate there status.

I may be a "newbie" but I am not a student at another school. I have never been expelled from any school, in fact I have always had at least a "B" average. I do not represent any other school.
