Can anyone shed some information regarding clinical sites in Chicago? Are there any other besides Jackson Park?

    Thanks

Bling Bling... Another colleague and myself have been checking out the clinical sites in Chicago. And we found the following:

The two hospitals (can't remember the names) are affiliated with Jackson Park; the rotations are throughout the Chicago area depending on the rotation that you are doing.

Tuition: pm me for details; the lady at the medical group did state to me that if I'm interesting in doing rotations in a specific order, then I must "lock" those rotations into place by paying in advance. This is so that I will have a guarantee for that rotation.

    Housing: the medical group does not help with housing but they have a small list of places;

Transportation: have heard various information.. some say that you do need a car, and others say that you don't need a car... the lady of the medical group stated that I would need a car; I am going to wait until I go to Chicago for a visit.

Need to send the following not only to the school but to the medical group: letter of good standing from the school, malpractice insurance, immunization record, current PPD/or xray report, and CV (resume).

Hope that this helps... email me for additional information or comments.
    Thank you

COOK COUNTY!! We never had that hospital.. and I don't know of any carribbean school that has rotations at that hospital. That place is great teaching hospital... a medical student's dream! But there are other hospitals that are just as good in Chicago.. two of the hospitals include Norweigan and St. Barnard's...

    cook county

I remember hearing all throughout 5 semesters that we had the following: Michael Reese, Cook County and Jackson Park in Chicago. Now, we apparently have St. Bernard, Holy Cross and Norwegian-American. Does Jackson Park affiliation still exist?

There are approx 8 hospitals in Chicago you can rotate through. You always have Jackson Park as the "hub" if you can't find better rotations in other hospitals. Some are harder to get than others. Cook County has several great rotations, but you need to sign up ASAP....those fill up months in advance. St. Anthony for OB was awesome...you can deliver up to 10 by yourself if you are strong at the end of the rotation. They also have good didactic sessions.

I know, that Cook County was an option once. I am not sure what is with the policy of "currently not accepting FMGs", perhaps it's something new? If you do a search through the forum, you will see that people have done their rotations there. Above I provided one of the entries.

I don't know what to say but can tell you: when I heard that we have cook county while we were on campus, I talked directly with the administration; And I was told that we did not have Cook County.

    in chicago rite now

    hi...

i am an mua-belize student...i've been in chicago since january '06.. have done internal and family rotations...currently doing ob/gyn....

if u guys have questions about the rotations here, then ask and i will try my best to get u the correct information..

about cook county.. i have heard of foreign medical students doing rotations at the hospital...however, they have their own application process for students who are interested in doing rotations ..and it is true that u would have to get on a 6 months wait list to get a rotation there

    thats all for now
