Thread: Poor Communication

Has anyone heard anything from the administration office in a the last two months? Students have been trying to contact them for information about payment of clinicals to GMC for months on end, and recieving no replies... Some have even been pulled from rotations, and still we are getting no responses.

Probably in Luton, partying it up in the UK with Mr. L. -- celebrating the increase in the student population.

There have been visits from the MUA Admin in February and March. Many students did not show up for the meetings. On one has been pulled from rotations that I know of.

As far at the purchase of St. Chris, I know they must be working hard because there are many things that they have to 'clean up'. Partying is the last thing they would be doing.

I feel first they need to clear up ALL the issues with MUA-B... then St. Chris in Luton.

with whom? the people in this forum? with students currently enrolled at MUA-B and St. Chris?

I do agree that they need to talk, and they have to the current students of both schools. If there are potential students who are interested in either school, then those students should talk to the administration directly. But as I posted earlier in other threads, the relationship between the schools is "new" and as with any new relationships, it takes several years for "dust to clear and/or settle"; there will be changes, some will be expected and some not... Let's not "jump" to any conclusions, and not base our decisions from past histories...

I believe there is no need for the cautious new student to risk their future while the dust clears/settle. There are many other less risky schools to go to.

Also, past histories are good/fair indicators to based your future decisions.

that's not the definition of risk...(directly from the Webster's Dictionary)... possibilility of loss or danger; peril (danger, jeopardy; risk of damage, injury or loss); to take the chance;

What you have listed.. is NOT risk, but of a medical school with only four years experience within the BUSINESS (no graduated students, no students in residency, and no licensed grads);

In regards to the next two: many students complaining of poor communication with the school, and that their clinical rotations are NOT being paid... I can not speak of that matter, but I can say that we as any school do have the "chronic complainers." (the day may be beautiful with clear skies, but there will be one person who will see a "black cloud") I'm not saying that it's them..

MUA Belize does have a quality program with excellent instructors; They are current with the changes re: USMLE Step 1 exam; The instructors increased the clinical vignettes especially in microbiology and immunology when it was known that the exam was changing to more application; The school does have students in the clinical rotations, and within two years, there should be graduates and residents. So as a medical student, you can wait for those two years, placing your "dream" on hold. OR you can "take the chance" (risk) and join the MUA-Belize family. The only pain is the "growing pains" that comes with being "young."

An absolutely untrue statement. There is no need to place anything on hold. There are quite a few other schools to choose from. Try Eastern Europe, Asian, Phillipines, Central and South American, and other Caribbean schools.
