mua-b vs mua-n
are the 2 affiliated under one umbrella or are they 2 separate entitities
reason i ask is i thought the history was that some broke away and formed mua belize from a rival school and were with mu nevis then things got bad and it split off
i state for the record that i just heard this and don't claim this as a fact
i was just curious to know as i weigh some of my options are the 2 affiliated????????????????????/
good questions... i don't know. and which one is better?
at one time there was a single school (mua) with 2 campuses - nevis and belize. this mua had interconnections with saba - i believe one person was involved with all 3. some shakeout occurred about 2+ years ago. the result: mua belize is now separated from mua nevis. mua nevis is still connected to saba in someway (or so it seems).
i dunno... nature of the original relationship between belize and nevis has always been unclear to me, i dunno if the nevis folks were functioning as consultants to the ones starting up belize.. or if there was more significant involvement.. never really understood it..

mua belize and nevis...

MUA Belize rec'd its' campus from Nevis... it seemed that Nevis had under its' charter the capability to open up another campus with the assumption that MUA Belize would always go on its' own at some time; SABA, from what I understand, did not have the "US comparable" certification when all all three campuses were together, and the owners of MUA Belize helped to achieve that certification; SABA and Nevis are still tied together (owner is the same unless things have changed that I don't know??); There was no shakeout or anything like that...
What's "US comparable" certification? Can you elaborate?

These schools that have the certification are eligible for the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program just like an American medical student. I believe that it includes guaranteed student loans. "US comparable" certification
Note: this is what I understood it to be... when explained to me and when I looked it up on the internet; I welcome others to either correct or give more information.

okay, thanks for the explanation.
This all sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. We don't know what went on with MUA Nevis or even what is in its charter. I don't think any school has a charter which says that it can open some other school. It's illogical. More likely is the theory which someone put forth here a couple of months ago that the guy who made Saba started MUA-Nevis after a couple of years. And then he started MUA-Belize but sold it very quickly to someone else.

The NCFMEA stopped certifying new schools for Stafford loan eligibility in the Caribbean sometime before Saba even got started.
I wish somebody from the MUA-Belize administration would inform us of why they kept the name.
strongly recommend MUA-N since MUA-B new and merged with St. Christopher's College of Medicine
