510 points It's important to start slowly.... walking for a mile (or for half an hour) on the first day may not be a good idea! Begin with 10mins, and slowly increase the distance/time over the next few days.. And even when you reach the target (half an hour/one mile), every day walk slowly the first five minutes, then brisk pace, then the final five minutes again slow down...
