Why doctor should become a medical assistant

I came to this country as a doctor from Vietnam. I have two kids to take care of and I was not ready to take the USMLE. I found out that as an MA I can earn while I learn the USMLE. It took me about six months to become a medical assistant. I worked during the day and studied at night. Thinking back, I was working at a physician\'s level eventhough my title was MA.
This was a great experience.

If you are a foreign doctor and need money to support your family and time to study the USMLEs, medical assistant is a great way to go! Contact with patients is crucial to your doctoring skills.

I agree 100% with you on that one.

Now they have a new certification way that is call RMA and also the old one call CMA, I think that for the RMA they let you take the test with the MD education from your country.

Another thing you can do is to teach forMA, is a great expirience.

RE: medical assistant

My friend I have worked in the Vet Field doing similiar work as a human Medical Assistant has but I would rather work in a human hospital but I don't want to pay the money to go to school since I am under financial constraints. Is it possible to get a Medical Assistant job somewhere? I have a great job record and live in the Bay Area, California.

If you are educated as a physician yet need income while you seek out US licensure then teaching or allied health isntruction is the way to go.

Pay can range around $15-$22/ hour and if you are full time you get benefits plus the instiution may even assist you in gaining other credentials such as becomin a certified/ registered Allied Health Instructor.

Good Luck to all!

Doctor-Nurse but wants to work as medical assistant

I am a docotr-nurse from the Philippines. I wanted to go work abroad but getting a license is not that easy FOr foreign graduates,so many exams... So my question is which pays better, working as a nurse or as a medical assistant? Since I think working as a medical assistant feels good than working as a nurse,Im still confused of what to do. Do I need a certificate to be a medical assistant? What site can best help me find job as a medical assistant?

Nursing pays more. If in fact you are considered a Registered NUrse.

Nurse Technicians and Nursing Assistants are entry level positions that pay minimum wage to maybe $10 per hour in the southern USA. Nursing home assistants often pay a little more, but trust me the work is very very laborious.

RN's without a BAchelors degree should easily make $17-$25/ hour depending on your discipline.

Nurse Anesthetis usually make 120k/ annum.

GOOD LUCK!

The teaching option is great because it's not as physical and you are oftne reviewing material that may be beneficial on the boards.
