US High School Graduates is the actual prerequisite, but if a prospectus student has already taken or completed their Pre-Medical Sciences, they will advances into the MD program.

The Doctor in Medicine program, compromised of 15 semesters, is divided into four modules that include: Basic Sciences, Pre-Clinical, Clinical and Internship Rotation.

Basic Sciences module(Pre-Medical) goes from the first through the fourth semester with a total of 90 credits. This module covers all introductory courses such as mathematics, physics, biophysics, chemistry, bioloy, sociology, humanities and scientific research methodology, among others.

Pre-Clinical module means the entrance into the UCE School of Medicine after the student has successfully completed allBasic Sciencesmodule requirements. This module will cover advanced courses ranging from medical terminology, diseases to its ways of Prevention.*

Clinicalmodule begines at the tenth semester, introducing students to a hospital setting assisting patients under the close supervision and guidance of the UCE School of Medicine. Students will practice with patients from the initial clinical history to performing physical examinations and preliminary diagnosis.**

Internship Rotations module starts at the thirtheenth semester. Students will work for a period of eight hours a day closely supervised by medical professionals assisgned by the school. The 52-week rotations will cover the areas of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Gyneocology/Obstetrics and Family Medicine. Internship Rotations and research programs are also available through UCE affiliations with universities in the United States, Europe and Latin America.***

*Since the curriculumis taught in Spanish, UCE offers a Curso Intensivo de Espanol, and immersive three-level course designed to specifically address the needs of those who do not speak the language. Upon graduation, foreign students will ultimately be bilingual and bicultural professionals providing them a competative advantage in today's global society.
**This module of the Doctor in Medicine program at UCE, will prepare students for the Step 2 Clinical Knowledge(CK) test portion of the USMLE, as a requirement for ECFMG certification.

UCE graduates are eligible to take the United States Medical Licensure Exam(USMLE). To help students seeking US licensure, UCE subsidizes an on-campus Kaplan Medical Preparation course.
