TOEFL

Would an IMG be required to write the TOEFL even though he/she is a Canadian with English as the first language?

Re: TOEFL

Yes. All FMG/IMG's are required to write the TOEFL no matter which country they are from.

Re: TOEFL

lol. i know of an american TESOL teacher who majored in ENGLISH and who designed some of the questions for the TOEFL! she had to take the TOEFL because it is required for FMGs. talk about red tape and bureaucracy!

its like saying, "write your own english test and take it."

Re: TOEFL

nope, the TOEFL requirements by the ECFMG expires! i think the best time to take it is sometime between 3rd and 4th year of medical school.

YES, it is a pain in the rear.

Look at it this way, this is one test you won't have to study for!

Re: TOEFL

The TOEFL is valid for 2 years from the date that u write it. Keep in mind that u need your TOEFL scores before u can register for the CSA. So try and time it to that.

toefl

yea, a pain in the butt. i was just short of perfect because i get bored and actually kinda "zoned out" for 2 questions. but the best time to take is in your 3rd year, early, so you can sign up for CSA

I think...

If your TOEFL score is valid at the time of your CSA sitting, I don't see why it should present a problem. Once you obtain your ECFMG certification, I believe you don't need to worry about revaildating any of the exams but applying your ECFMG certification to non-expiry.
