Perhaps this will show others that being an FMG from the US means work is there. My god they need Ortho's?
510 points In my town of 30k in Oklahoma, we had one pick up and leave, one about to retire (already semi-retired), and one who was just plain crappy. I know the one who left was making about $450k free and clear after all expenses when he left.
There's money to be made in rural medicine. And the cost of living is lower too, so twice the salary can be more equivalent to 3-4x.
Just my $.02.....
it is going to be tough to fill pulm, rads, uro and ortho...all these specialties will remain tough to fill because the training spots are so limited. i can't imagine them getting to many IMG's in these specialties, cause basically, we don't match in them too often. also, the job market is good for these guys almost anywhere, so why go to BFE?
this is a good example of why these training spots stay so low. with only a few hundred grads each year, there will ALWAYS be a job for grads in these specialties.
