I want to go to Poland as my first choice and secondly i would love to go to SGU. I would like to be as close to home as I possibly can. Can anyone help me please?? I have 9 g.c.s.e's and A-levels in chem, bio, business, psycology and general studies. I have also worked in a hos for 3 yrs. |

Would definitely recommend a European (EU) school, due to licensing issues. If you go to Carib., you'd have to sit for the PLAB in the UK, which you can probably avoid if you are a UK national and graduate from an EU school. (due to mutual recognition of docs in EU - tho' not sure if it matters that you went to a school in a country where you're not a citizen. GMC can answer that quickly).

Saba?
What about Saba?
The island of Saba is suppose to become a part of the Netherlands by July of 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands_Antilles). Since the Netherlands are part of the EU would that work? |

Regarding limited registration in the UK, see:
http://www.gmc-uk.org/doctors/how_to...actsheet.asp#5 Highly doubt Saba etc. would qualify as EU-schools. While the Netherlands Antilles do seem to revert to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, they would retain their own government. So that will be essentially the same situation as with the (UK) Commonwealth: That the country would nominally accept the King (or Queen) of the UK/Netherlands as their sovereign, but in reality remain independent countries, including the right to charter medical or other schools, and thus remain ineligible as far as EU-regulations are concerned. Same status also applies to Greenland, which is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but has self-rule and isn't part of the EU, so lots of precendents for that... (no med school in Greenland, tho') |
