    Well....

To put it bluntly, no. I have checked around, and a physician board certified EM cannot go into IM or FP and open a clinic without re-doing an IM or FP residency. There are a few residency programs (check FREIDA) that will allow you to double-board (IM/EM), so that is an option, but they are highly competative. EM physicians who no longer want to work EM can do ambulatory shifts (and own an ambulatory clinic(s)), but then again, you can work ambulatory by going FP as well....

    Hope that helps!

    EM FP

My personal physician is a DO. He did both a FP and EM residency. He moonlights occasionaly as a ER Doc. It can be done, but just a few more years in training.
