"The DOE letter is supportive, but that won't help with the auditing deficienies that Dr. jmentioned. If there are auditing deficiencies, it might be possible that terrorists are getting loans through these schools to fund attacks on US citizens."

these 3 schools in particular cater to US citizens and residents so wether we go to school in the US for RN, Chiro, Pod, Mechanic school or a foreign school we'd still get the loans. the foreign students that are a minute portion don't qualify for these stafford loans anyway so if your concern is that foreign students are using medical schools to get in the US that is a wider scope than just the 3 schools in question and in most cases the foreign students make up a really small part of the student body.

hospitals, especialy community hospitals, can not survive without us so i imagine this will be ok but we need to make our voices heard.

we finally agree sargod....interesting trend....

do your job, I did!

Folks, as NIKE once said " Just Do It!"

well, I did. I emailed 4 senators and multiple Reps in both states (HI and CA). I reworded the letter and made it more "mine" and I think it showed a more human side to the potential affect of NOT having any loan $ and the pursuit of the American dream.

It's too bad that any educational programs gets the axe. Maybe the military can start baking or having some other fund raiser too!

If we're not educating our youth and promoting health, then what the heck does our US govt stand for?

Hope the Interns that read our emails has a brain. They are learning themselves. Dan

Our government stands to concur new land and lie to the general public… Educating new generation is probably the last thing on their mind at this time… I mean, just look at the tuition raise in the universities… Here at University Of Houston, the tuition tripled in a matter of 18 months… Tuition at Texas Southern University (Houston) is twice as what my friends paid a year ago. At Houston community college, you pay $600 instead of $250 if you are out of district (more that double the amount)… Don’t you think there is something wrong with this picture? If they kept up with these outrageous increases in tuition and not provide us with means to pay for it, most people will not be able to either afford it or would be scared to take the risk of getting in debt. Soon we will be counted in “the most uneducated country in the world” list… Is this the future of U.S, a country that was once considered the SUPER POWER of the world…????

I know what you mean.....

tuition seems to always go up, even during recession years. Go figure.

I recently purchased Step II CS & CK and that costed about 1900 clams. $1200 for CSA and $695 for CK. Then I had the brilliance to purchase Kaplan step Qreview for 6 months for $499. The rich gets richer and the poorer get poor! Everyone else gets into more debt!

If they raise tuition again, I'll prob sell my kidney. Dan

And......

Will this affect Skippers University?

Senate bill (S. 1614) has deleted the grandfather clause.

The House bill, H.R. 609 has included it.
